Taking that big step to completely revamp the cinematic universe of the DCEU into an all-new franchise had a lot of implications for the stars who played different comic book characters in the previous franchise. Among that list of stars was Dwayne Johnson, who couldn’t continue as his anti-hero character Black Adam in the new DCU envisioned by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

But along with him, several stars were initially under the impression that they would get the chance to continue in the newly developing franchise in the future but were surprisingly shot down. Among them was Aldis Hodge, the star who played the role of Hawkman in Johnson’s film, who now believes that his future in the DCU may already be over.

Aldis Hodge Had Plans To Continue With DC Until James Gunn Snubbed Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam

With the advent ofJames Gunnas the co-CEO of DC Studios along with Peter Safran, a series of dramatic changes took place in the management, including the complete dismantling of the DCEU to build the new DCU on top of it. While this may have initially looked like being mostly for the narrative of the cinematic universe, it extended to the stars who were part of it as well.

Among them,Dwayne Johnsonhad an ambitious plan with his character Black Adam in the DCEU, which was squashed when theGuardians of the Galaxyfilmmaker took over. But not just him,Aldis Hodge, the star who played the role of Hawkman inBlack Adam, revealed that the franchise held a lot of things to explore for his character in the long run.

But now, seeing as major changes have been made to the cinematic universe as a whole, he has almost no chance of returning as his character on-screen. In an interview withComicBook, the star said:

“I don’t know if that’s in the cards for me, I mean, look, if it is, obviously I love the character. I would love to continue the character. Definitely had plans to continue the character before some changes were made. But yeah, I couldn’t tell you. You’re going to have to askJames.”

With Gunn’s new plans taking shape in the form of the upcomingSuperman: Legacy, it seems like these characters really may not have a chance at revival.
