Leaks and leakers are not usually trustworthy, but this one might be different. While this Nintendo leak was revealed on December 21, it took users a few days to understand its meaning.
As reported byThegamepost, a new leak suggests aNintendo Switch 2 announcementin January. The leak comes from Weibo user “荷姆荷姆喼,” who was behind the staggeringly accurate revelation of theJune 2024 Nintendo Directlineup.

The substance of the leak is extremely vague, consisting only of a series of seemingly random numbers. If the leaker had not been successful in the past with their predictions, it would have been ignored.
According to users on theNintendo Switch 2 subreddit, the numbers the leaker has shared since December 21 are part of the Fibonacci sequence. Based on the current pattern, the counting willend on January 8.

Although the leaker’s messages were accurate in the past, we have to stress there is no reason to believe that will be the case now - or even if the date refers to the Switch 2 announcement. It could be something else entirely.
Nintendo Switch 2024 Year In Review Is Live
Nintendo Switch’s 2024 Year In Review is now available for fans to see what their most played game was.
But why do the users who decoded this message believe it was about the Switch’s follow-up? The reason is as simple as it is suspicious. Some time ago, the same leaker announced that Nintendo’s new console would be announced in January 2025 and released in March of that same year.

The Nintendo Switch 2’s Other Leak
This wouldn’t be the first time that some details of the Nintendo Switch 2 were leaked to the public before they were officially announced.
Previously, we saw the reveal of possibleSwitch 2 hardware specsand pictures. More recently, the leaks became more specific, including statements on how Nintendo’s next console willfix stick drift.
Evenaccessories aren’t safe from leaks, from carrying cases and screen protectors to a whole new Joy-Con.
Of course, it would be a mistake to take the overabundance of leaked material as proof that the Switch 2 is around the corner. The only thing it really tells us is how much hype is behind this announcement, which is a good reason to remain skeptical.
