Visiting new realms is what realmwalkers are meant to do, and there is a lot of it in Nightingale. A logical question arises as players explore new realms: Can you return to this realm after leaving? The short is yes. But there is a lot more to it than that. Here’s everything we know about how to visit previous realms in Nightingale.

How To Return To Realms After Leaving
Yes, you’re able to. Nightingale lets you return to previous realms in a very specific way.However, to understand the how of it, we need tounderstand how realms and portals workin the game. To travel between realms or to find a new realm, you need a portal. Each realm is a contained map you can explore with a portal you can use to travel between realms, including your home realm (where the respite is).
You can only have one home realm at one time. This is where your respite is and where you can travel freely by using the ‘Travel to Respite’ button on the left side of the map.
Now, the question I ran into as soon as I found myself in a realm is,can you return to a previous realm after leaving via a portal or by fast-traveling back to your home realm? The answer is yes but with a twist.
You see, each time you create a portal, you use realm cards. You input the realm cards into the portal, and the portal becomes attuned to that realm. Each time a player does this, arandom realm map is generated for them with that combination of cards.
What you may not realize is that once this realm is generated for a player, it then becomes the default for that combination of cards for that player. Say you use theAntiquarianand Forest Realm cards at a portal, visit the realm, and create a base there. Then, you return to your home realm using the ‘Travel to Respite’ feature.
If you go to the realm portal again and interact with it, you’ll see the option to ‘Reopen Portal.’Pressing this button will open the doorway to the same realm you just left from (Antiquarian Forest).The portal will remain attuned to a realm indefinitely until you play a different set of cards.
Say that after leaving the Antiquarian Forest Realm, you need to visit the Desert Herbarium Realm. To do this, you’ll need to tune the portal by playing the Herbarium and Desert biome cards at the portal. Now, the portal is attuned to Herbarium Desert and will remain so until you play another set of cards later on.
Now, let’s say we’re done with the Herbarium Desert Realm, but there was a valuable item you left in a chest in the Antiquarian Forest Realm. Can you return? Yes, you can. Justplay the correct set of cards, and the portal will open, leading you back to the previous realmwith the chest in it. Those two cards will now always lead you back to the same realm.
After completing theFae Towerin the Antiquarian Forest realm for the first time,Puckwill reward you with the ability to make portableCrude Portals. Place them in your base to have easy access to a portal if your base is not close to the larger realm portals.
