Along with one piece of Coral, you will also needone Bone, one piece of Glass, and five Essence Dust. With these ingredients, you will be able to craft yourself aSlight Healing Potion.
However, before you may make any healing potions using Coral, you will first need toget yourself anAlchemist Boiler. You will need tovisit an Essence Traderand get a recipe for you to make such a crafting station. As you progress, you will be able to make even moreadvanced stationsthat serve the same purpose — albeitmore effective ones. This will be your key to having access to thebest healing potions possiblein Nightingale.
While the Prodigious Healing Potion does not require any coral, there are2 more potions beyond the Slight Healing Potionthat will still make use of this resource. The first is theModerate Healing potion, which will also only need one piece of Coral and one bone. However, you will now needone piece of colourful glass, and a total of 50 Essence Dust. The second is theGreat Healing Potion. For this, you will need a piece ofPolished Coral and Diamond Glass,along with a whopping500 Essence Dust per bottle. You will also need at least anExcellent Alchemical Boiler to make bothof these upgraded potion options.Bones are easy to farm, so you will have no short supply of them.
You will be able tomake a Healing Salve much early in the game, and all you will need to make this salveis a cooking pot. However, a Healing Salve will onlyrestore your health gradually— not the best candidate while your health bar is almost empty, and you happen to be in the middle offighting for your lifeagainst a fearsome attacker. You will want to use aHealing Salve for after a big fightand while you are sorting your inventory, but keep your potions readyfor when you instantly need your health topped up— Healing Salves are also much easier to gather resources for.
You may still come across healing potions in other ways such as chests and enemy drops. So if you happen to be running really low, there is a chance you may get some more before you need to dive back into your coral hunting.
