The first season ofThe Witchertelevision showhas finished filming. Henry Cavill went to his Instagram today announcing the conclusion of the show’s production thanking his makeup crew. Cavill is playing Geralt of Rivia the iconic video game character from the CD Projekt Red series.The Witcherwas originally based on a book series and then the studio made the trilogy of games. The show was shot in Eastern Europe.
Season 1 of The Witcher has finally come to an end. And although I’m pulling a face here it has been an incredible journey! The cast and crew worked tirelessly throughout, everyone pitched in and brought their A game to set and I couldn’t be more proud of you all. Speaking of my immediate team. Jacqui, Ailbhe and Leah are consummate professionals who worked extraordinary hours to bring the Witcher to life, they were non stop improving adjusting and evolving Geralt throughout. The Witcherseries will air exclusively on Netflix as an original series. The show will be adapting the book series, not the video game trilogy. Based onthe video that showed us Cavill back in October of last yearin full Geralt makeup, it looks like this series might be a prequel of some sort, as his Geralt looks much younger compared to the Geralt we know in the video game series.

As of right now, we know that the series is being run by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who is known for working on other Netflix series likeDaredevilandThe Defenders. The show will have an eight-episode season which Hissrich said onTwitteris “creatively, the right call.” This should be seen as good news to most fans because Netflix has been known for having shows with too many episodes that end up having a lot of “filler.” For those that are more hesitant on the show, it has also beenconfirmed that the author ofTheWitcher, Andrzej Sapkowski, is a creative consultant.
