The Uchiha clan is one of the most powerful clans inNaruto, as their dojutsu prowess along with their bloodline was eventually seen as a threat, even to the village itself. But this majorly had to do with the Curse of Hatred and the rumors behind their involvement.

Their segregation from the Leaf Village was their last straw. Following the years of abuse and tyranny they faced, they planned on launching a coup d’état. This, however, may have been overstated in the series.
While the Uchiha clan possesses immense power, they may not have an upper hand against Konoha in any case. This ties well with fans’ speculations and conjectures regarding the same. It, however, leaves several questions unanswered.

Above all, it circles back to the institutions of loyalty as well as hierarchies in the anime. The war within and outside clans has been perfectly highlighted by the mangaka. This is pivotal in comprehending the landscape within the series.
Uchiha Clan’s coup may have been overstated inNaruto
Of all the clans, theUchiha clanwas feared and looked down on inNaruto. Their massacre stands as one of the most gut-wrenching and harrowing moments in the series. But most of all, it represented Leaf Village’s failure in every aspect.
Theirsegregation and subjugationto injustice were a result of decades of tyranny and stereotyping. While Danzo partook in the dehumanization of the clan, Tobirama merely fuelled the fire. But that is not the end of it all.

As descendants of Indra Otsutsuki, Uchihas were associated with the Curse of Hatred. While most of it is true, there wereexceptions to thatas well. Their decision to launch a coup against the village was valid for the most part.
To add to that, their unjust treatment and demonization stemmed from major failures. The coup was very much seen as a lethal threat by the Hokage. And while the clan members were overpowered, it might have been exaggerated.

Onr/Narutousers pointed out the major flaws in the theory surrounding the coup.
While Uchihas and their lack of allyship can be a root cause of the coup’s failure, there were other reasons as well. Their being overpowered by other clans is tied to the lack of manpower. The clan only had a handful of potent shinobi.

On top of that, Konoha clans were torn between the war within the village as well as their own families. This is true for clans with bran families such as Hyuga that was eventually sidelined along with the Uchihas.
Hierarchies and loyalties in Kishimoto’s series
Other than fights and showdowns,Masashi Kishimotowent the extra mile in writing clan structures. Be it Inuzuka or Aburame, the clans in the series have their unique features and quirks. There is, however, a caveat to that as well.
Most specifically when it comes to the hierarchies and loyalties within the clans. Loyalty and servitude are common themes in the series. Within clans, however, it represented a horrific culture that signified tyranny in every sense.
One such case was the Hyuga clan which underwent immense conflict and friction.Their cursed markwas nothing short of dehumanizing considering the oppressive nature of the branch families.
Like his father, Neji Hyuga bore the brunt of servitude till his last breath. And while things changed for the better, it all circles back to the Leaf village and its leader’s massive failures to safeguard its citizens.

Be it Uchiha’s dehumanization at the hands of Danzo or the Aburame Clan’s involvement with the Root, Kishimoto brilliantly outlined the politics of power in his series.
