Kaiju No. 8, the masterpiece of Naoya Matsumoto, recently entered the anime world with its debut episode being released on Crunchyroll on July 13, 2025. The episode had a great response from anime fans and the series has lived up to its expectations of being one of the most awaited anime series of Spring 2024.

Matsumoto, on the other hand, celebrated the premiere of the first episode differently. The manga creator shared an illustration with the anime fans to mark the beginning of the anime adaptation and to show his faith in the overall success of the series.
As fans were enjoying the introduction of the kaiju-infested world, and Kafka, the protagonist of the series, the artwork by the creator appeared as a sweet surprise for the fans who are now waiting for the release of the second episode.

The story ofKaiju No. 8follows the adventure of Kafka Hibino, who is a cleaner in one of the organizations that deal with huge monsters or “Kaiju”. However, his world changes when a small Kaiju flies into his mouth and gives him the ability to transform into a Kaiju. The story is being adapted by Production I.G., and the first episode got a great response.

To celebrate the debut of the anime series, Matsumoto shared an illustration that featured Kafka in the Kaiju form, his friend Reno Ichikawa, and a robotic cat, watching the first episode ofKaiju No. 8on a flatscreen TV.

This illustration provedMatsumoto’s faith in the seriesand the response it will receive from anime fans in the future.

The first episode ofKaiju No. 8titled“The Man Who Became a Kaiju”shared a glimpse into the past of Kafka and his friendship with Mina Ashiro. It also focuses on a Kaiju attack which almost killed Kafka but reunited him with Mina. As the episode ends, Kafka is seen conversing with Reno, as a small Kaiju flies into Kafka’s mouth and turns him into a Kaiju.

The first episode of the series has excelled in all categories. It brilliantly portrayed the events from the manga, had great animation and the voice actors perfectly adapted the characters.Kaiju No. 8manga fans were happy and satisfied to see Production I.G. doing justice to Matsumoto’s series.
And now, anime fans are waiting for the second episode, which will stream live at the same time as it airs in Japan. Also, the episode will be released for viewing on Saturday, April 20 at 8:30 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST), 11:30 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST), and 4:30 PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
