Cheating will always be a problem in online multiplayer, but the developers behindCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2are hoping to stamp it out starting today during the game’s beta testing period. The team at Infinity Ward is dedicated to making sure its testing period runs smoothly, and that also means making sure certain players aren’t receiving an unfair advantage. For that reason, they announced onTwittertoday that they’d be cracking down on cheaters starting tomorrow, as reported byPCGamesN.
Thebetatesting period opened September 16 with its early-access period for PlayStation users. The developers then opened the gates for all PlayStation beta testers on September 18, early-access Xbox, Battle.net, and Steam testers on Sept. 20, and finally, all testers on September 24. The beta is scheduled to end on September 26.

Just what sort of action the developers are planning to take against testers caught using cheats and hacks remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t seem unreasonable for them to be banned for the remainder of the beta test. The game is planned for launch on October 28, while season one is slated to begin on November 16, which would coincide with the planned release date ofCall Of Duty Warzone 2.
The beta test has already reveled some potentially exciting changes for the series, such as the possibility of playing from athird-person viewpointand inclusion of a field-of-view slider, a feature that Warzone developers have stated has been in high demand among the Call of Duty player community.
Asannouncedby the team at Infinity Ward via Twitter, the list of maps for this weekend’s beta test is composed of Farm 18, Mercado Las Almas, Breenbergh Hotel, Valderas Museum, Sariff Bay & Sa’id (GW/Invasion), and Santa Seña (GW/Invasion), while the modes available to testers are TDM, Domination, Prisoner Rescue, Knock Out, 3rd Person Mosh Pit, Invasion, S&D, and Hardpoint.
