Mighty DOOM is a fun and new addition to theDoomfranchise. Published byBethesdaand developed by Alpha Dog Games, it’s a great game to pick up and play on the run, whether you’re at home or commuting to work. But don’t let its cartoony art style fool you, Mighty DOOM is still DOOM after all, it has nearly everything that the 2016 Doom reboot has to offer; such as its iconic Glory Kills with a very gory animation as a reward.

One of the many bosses you’ll encounter in Mighty DOOM’s levels is the Hell Priest, an enemy introduced inDoom Eternal. This guide will teach you how to beat him when you encounter him on one of your many runs in the game. Too bad you can’t use ashield in the game, but maybe that’d make it too easy.

Hell Priests' Ranged Attacks

The Hell Priest utilizes frost to attack the Slayer. He primarily shoots out flying chunks of ice down onto the level with indicators stating where the ice will land. Avoiding these attacks is one thing, but what comes next is that these chunks of ice linger on the screen until the end of the Hell Priest’s attack phase. What this means is that you could end up trapping yourself behind a wall of ice chunks, as this lingering ice will damage the Slayer if walked over. The best strategy is to let these indicators target you, as the Hell Priest will target the slayer if he stands still. Once the indicators are targeting you, slowly walk a line around the screen that will prevent you from getting trapped. Do this while also avoiding the other randomly shot ice on the screen.

The Hell Priest’s most damaging attack is the larger version of the Falling Ice Chunks attack, but thankfully, it is far easier to dodge in comparison. Instead of multiple indicators trailing you, the Ice falls at random without ever targeting you directly. You can hug one corner of the map and wait out the attack without ever getting hit by the falling ice.But do beware of the indicator appearing underneath you by chance if you don’t pay attention to the screen. Otherwise, take this attack phase as a chance to dish out the most damage to the Hell Priest by getting into medium range and using your entire arsenal against him.

While the Large Ice Chunks are falling, it’s better to stand still and shoot; this is a great opportunity to use your secondary weapon.

Hell Priests' Melee Attacks

All bosses in Mighty DOOM have a melee attack to use when the Slayer gets too close to them, the Hell Priest is no different.Once the Slayer is within melee range, the Hell Priest will shoot out a cone of ice that expands from his center; a devastating attack if paired with the Small Falling Ice Chunks. The best strategy to avoid this attack is to always keep yourself at a good distance when fighting the Hell Priest, as you’ll primarily be avoiding his Falling Ice Chunks anyway, it’s best to give yourself room to avoid him walking around the screen. Hug the corners of the level whenever you’re able to.

You should now be able to take on the Hell Priest and expertly avoid his attacks, securing yourself a rather fantastic Glory Kill animation as your reward for beating the boss; along with experience points too, of course.
