Today’s EA Play event was full ofnew informationon many of EA’sbiggesttitles.Madden NFL 20was one of the game’s on the docket. The team delivered an extended look at their latest football title. Included in the event was a new look at cover star Patrick Mahomes discussing what it takes to be an NFL-quality quarterback. Check it out below.

We’ve known quite a bit aboutMadden 20for a while now, but seeing everything in action was a treat. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is thecover star, and he’ll play like it. Players like Mahomes will have access to Superstar abilities. These traits differentiate your Mahomes from your Josh McCowns.  Elite NFL players will have access to a number of different traits, making them someone you’ll want to have when you jump into Franchise mode.

Speaking of Franchise mode, the Pro Bowl is back! It may sound silly, but it was removed a few years ago and fans are glad it’s back. In more interesting news, Franchise mode has changed up the Development Trait system. You’ll now have four player grades: Normal, Star, Superstar, andSuperstar X-Factor. Those X-Factor players will be incredibly important as there are only 50 of them in the league at one time. If you want to build a Patriots-like dynasty, you’re going to need to scoop a few of them up.

Keeping with the QB-centric theme, EA Tiburon is ditching the “Longshots” campaign in favor of a new mode called “Face of the Franchise: QB1”. This campaign lets you create a quarterback from one of four different archetypes. After making your selection, you’ll play with them from the college playoff through their NFL career. With fans constantly clamoring for a return of theNCAA Footballseries (raises hand), this should scratch that itch to some degree. All of this comes together to make a compelling package of new additions for the long-running franchise.

Madden NFL 20is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 2. However, lucky fans will get a chance to try the game out in aclosed betais taking place from June 14-16. If you’re interested in a deep dive into everything coming inMadden 20, check out the full 30-minute presser below.
