There are different types of items in the game that you can use. These are throwable items, consumables, and key items that affect the gameplay.

When To Use Items

Pulse Cell
It stores healing charges and refills automatically when the player uses Stargazers. Furthermore, it also refills as the player attacks enemies in combat.
The Grinder
The Grinder is used to maintain the player’s weapons and stop them from breaking. It fixes the durability relatively fast.
Monad’s Lamp
This lamp can be used to create a circle of light around the player for an indefinite amount of time. It’s useful when navigation dark areas.
Moonphase Pocket Lamp
The Moonphase Pocket Lamp is used to return to the previous Stargazer or to the Stargazer in Hotel Krat. It’s a fast way to travel when you aren’t near a Stargazer.
There is another class of items called ‘Ergo’ and ‘Special Ergo.’ These can be found scattered throughout the world and essentially work as money bags that don’t get lost upon death. You should use them as soon as you get them to level up, buy items, or upgrade your weapons. Ergo is a currency in the game, as well as a method of leveling up, but it’s only useful if you use it.
It’s prudent to keep a hold of the Special Ergos that drop from bosses since they can be exchanged with treasure hunters for weapons and goods.
How To Use Items
Items are stored in the Equipment menu under Consumables. Typically, this isn’t where you want to go in order to use them since the game cannot be paused, meaning you’ll be exposed while you’re navigating the game menu. Instead, you’re able to bind items to the Upper Belt, Lower Belt, or Extra Bag. Both belts can hold three items at a time while the Extra Bag can hold up to four of them for you.
