With the production for the fifth and final season ofStranger Thingsunderway, the Duffer brothers have been sharing glimpses of what fans can expect from the swansong of the beloved show. And the recent images released by the directing duo from the sets of Season 5 have sent fans into a frenzy, especially the ones including Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin.

One minor detail in the BTS images involving Sink’s Max and McLaughlin’s Lucas has left fans sobbing for the right reasons, as they can’t wait to see what the future holds for the two.

Since Season 2, Lucas and Max have shared an on-off relationship, with the fourth one finally seeing them reconciling things before Max was sent into a comatose state by the end of it. And following the BTS picturessharedby theDuffer Brothers, in which Sink and McLaughlin can be seen laughing, the director confirmed:“this is a pic of Sadie [Sink] not Max. Max is in a coma”.
In the second image, they can be seen holding hands, and fans were reasonably touched by the images, especially after noticing a Kate Bush tape on the bedside table. Following the impact ofRunning Up That Hillin Season 4, the song that helped Max escape Vecna, seeing Lucas bringing her a tape of Kate Bush as he stayed by her side was enough to make fans emotional.

It remains under wraps whether Max will get out of Coma in the final season, but considering the Duffer Brothers didn’t kill her off in the last outing, chances are she might.
