It comes to be expected now thatThe Last of Us Part 2, even though it’s almost been four years since its release, still holds plenty of secrets that players continue to find to this day.
Naughty Dog seems to relish throwing in missable clues and Easter eggs like the PS3 game cases forUncharted, Sam’s toy robot, Nathan Drake’s ring, giraffe plushies, and so many others, but something many players hadn’t counted on is a poster foreshadowing a major plot regardingDina, and it was right in front of our faces all this time.

The Last of Us 2 Fans Shocked at Rare Kill Animation That Made It Into the Game
This Last of Us Part 2 very rare kill animation actually made it from the trailer into the game.
The Whole Time? The Whole Time!
Over on Reddit where all the good stuff happens, userquirk-the-kenkuhas stumbled across a Naughty Dog-infused clue about the future of Dina, Ellie’s partner, and all-around badass, as they make their way through the game. As Ellie and Dina emerge from the subway after that horrific experience with the infected, and also where Dina finds out Ellie is immune, a poster can be seen with the words “Save Mother Ea…” as the rest of the ‘Earth’ is ripped off, just minutes before they make their way to the theater and Dina tells Ellie she’s having a baby.
While I would usually agree that something like this could be reaching a bit too far to fill in a narrative that probably doesn’t exist, knowing how Naughty Dog works and how many developers' eyes every single bit of art and object goes past until the game’s release, this poster is almost certainly foreshadowing Dina’s upcoming pregnancy. The comment section under the image is of the same mindset as fans are in agreement about this hidden, yet, at the same time, right in front of players' faces environmental symbolism.

“Knowing Naughty Dog? Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt,” says Shikaski, echoing many other replies. “It’s 100% intentional. Every Naughty Dog game is built using landmarks and lines of sight to direct the player. They want you to see this and will build the level so that you definitely will.” states gunslingerplays, while quirk-the-kenku adds, “And specifically “earth” is torn off, like it’s telling you, the player, to “save” the “mother.” (I’m usually not one to read so much into potential wordplay symbolism, but it seems so intentional).”
“Everything is intentional in a video game. It’s not like they were shooting a movie on location and forgot to remove a coffee cup from the background.” says Zacuf93

While Dina’s pregnancy, in the grand scheme of the entirety of the game, might not seem like the biggest narrative journey compared to Abby’s and Ellie’s, for instance, but it probably did save her life. WouldAbbyhave killed her if she wasn’t pregnant and Lev hadn’t intervened? In my opinion, probably. It goes without saying that there’s likely more foreshadowing and plenty of other hidden clues still up for grabs in The Last of Us Part 2. We just need to open our eyes and our minds.
