A newNintendo Directhas been announced that will focus onKirby Air Riders. Somehow, this will be a 45-minute-long event, despite Kirby Air Riders being afairly simple racing game, or at least, that’s what fans are assuming.

The Kirby Air Riders Direct is happening on the same day asGamescom Opening Night Live, though a few hours earlier. Several Nintendo games will be featured during Gamescom 2025, includingMetroid Prime 4: Beyond, but Kirby is the only one getting an exclusive Direct.

In a post that was initially uploaded to Nintendo Today (and thankfully reposted by Nintendo’s Facebook page), it has been confirmed that a Kirby Air Riders Direct will happen on Tuesday, August 19, at 6:00 AM PT/9 AM EST/2 PM BST.

Kirby Air Riders Direct Is The Length Of A TV Show Episode (Without Commercials)

What’s so surprising about this Direct is that Nintendo has confirmed that it will be 45 minutes long. The first bigSuper Smash Bros. UltimateDirect wasonly 25 minutes long, and that had a ton of ground to cover.

The original Kirby Air Ride on the GameCube has a bunch of special modes, but it’s not exactly a newGran Turismoor even aMario Kart. It’s possible that Kirby Air Riders is a massively complicated game, possibly with some crossover content (this is a Masahiro Sakurai game after all), which is why it needs such a long Direct.

Whatever the case, fans are ecstatic to finally get some news about anupcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game, especially with the dearth of release dates. If there’s a Direct this long, then there has to be a release date in there somewhere; otherwise, it’s going to be wasting a lot of time with info that will be hard to get excited about.
