Via Argentum is a main quest inKingdom Come Deliverance 2that focuses on Henry attempting to get Kunzlin Ruthard to help save Lord Capon from captivity. To get Richard’s help, Henry must prove that a man named Vavak has been stealing silver from the Miners for his own pockets.

With Vavak in the way, Kunzlin Ruthard cannot do anything. Proving that Vavak is behind the silver theft will not only get him fired from the Mint Master’s office but also have him killed due tocapital theft.

Seeking Help From Kunzlin Ruthard

The first objective of Via Argentum inKingdom Come Deliverance 2is tospeak to Kuzlin Ruthard at the Ruthard Palace. This palace is in the southern part of Kuttenberg, and once you arrive, a battle will begin between Ruthard’s and Vavak’s men.

After defeating Vavak’s men in yellow, speak to Kunzlin Ruthard and explain to him how you need his help to save Lord Capon.

Unfortunately, Ruthard explains that he can’t do anything with Vavak still around, sohe tasks Henry with finding evidence that Vavak is behind silver theft and counterfeiting Groschen.

Ruthard knows the perfect person to help Henry in his investigation — Christian Pisek. Christian is Vavak’s direct subordinate, but due to him getting snubbed for the Mint Master’s office, he is someone who also wants to see the downfall of Vavak. So, it’s time for us to get on our horse and ride to see Christian Pisek.

Investigating With Christian Pisek

Christian Pisek can be found at the waypoint marker, southwest of Grund. At this location, head inside the courtyard, where you’ll find Christian with a red shirt and a long hood over his head. Speak to him and tell him that you’re willing to help with the investigation into Vavak.

Christian will take you somewhere private to speak about the situation, where he’ll explain that to prove Vavak’s wrongdoing,we’ll need to find the official numbers of corves mined on a specific day. He says that if the numbers don’t match the miner’s book, then that’ll prove that someone “cooked the book.”

Christian will tell you to speak to three different foremen, Frank, Samko, and Pavel, to find out the number of corves mined onthe night of the Feast of St. Petronilla. To hide Henry’s true identity, you’ll get to choose a story that Henry will stick with when speaking to the foremen.

For example, I decided to say that I’m Christian Pisek’s nephew. Or, you’re able to choose to be a Nobleman. It doesn’t matter which story you choose here, so pick whichever one you like.

Luckily, the three foremen are not far away and can be found in the same location as Christian Pisek. Keep in mind that Pavel is underground in the mine shaft, so don’t waste time wandering around near the waypoint above ground looking for him. It took me a good amount of time to realize this.

Getting the Foremen to Talk

The three foremen won’t just easily offer up the information to you, so you’ll need to work for it.

First,Foreman Frankwill offer up the information if you pass a dialogue check, bring him booze, or pay him 50 Groschen.

Foreman Samkowill offer up his information if you beat him in a game of Miner’s Dice, pass a dialogue check, or pay him 200 Groschen. Lastly,Foreman Pavelwill offer up his information if you choose the option to pray with him for a boy who lost his life.

After getting all three foremen to speak, you’ll learn thatthe total amount of corves mined on the night of the Feast of St. Petronilla is 100. Return to Christian Pisek to report your findings.

After telling Christian that the foremen report 100 total Corves mined, he’ll instantly be suspicious and know something is wrong. He’ll explain to Henry thatonly 90 Corves were reported in the mine book. In other words, the book was cooked.

10 Most Underrated Open World Games

Open world games are the norm when it comes to today’s Triple A experiences, but what about the unknowns that do just as well with this formula?

Christian gives you two more men to look into:Merchant HermannandChief Foreman Fett, where the former is responsible for checking the volumes of outgoing ore, and the latter is the one who finalizes the books.

After speaking to these two men and passing the dialogue checks, we’ll learn that they have higher-ups from the Smelter who created the whole scheme.

Report back to Christian Pisek, and he’ll explain how we need to get into the smelting works to dig deeper into our investigation. To safely investigate the Smelting Works, we need to get on the good side of its owner, Buresh. Christian will hand you a letter for Buresh that will come in handy later on.

Getting Access to the Smelting Works

Buresh is a high-class individual and the owner of the Smelting Works. He doesn’t just speak to anyone, so to get on his good side, we have to dress the part andraise ourCharisma to level 20.

Keep in mind that this objective is optional, but it’s highly recommended, considering it’ll completelyremove “trespassing"when entering the Smelting Works.

Luckily, two Tailors in Kuttenbergcan help you reach higher levels of Charisma (locations shown in the image attached). The clothes listed below are what I purchased to reach level 20 in Charisma:

Keep in mind that you’ll have to visit both Tailors to purchase all of the clothes listed, considering one doesn’t sell all of them. If you’re still not atlevel 20 Charisma, ensure to take a bath, repair any broken armor, clean any dirty clothes, and sleep.

Once your Charisma is high enough, speak to Buresh, and he’ll finally give you the time of day. Hand over the letter that Christian gave you, causing Buresh to allow you to enter the Smelting Works with no questions asked and no trespassing.

Questioning the Smelters

Once you reach the Smelting Works, on the west side of Grund, speak to any Smelter that has “talk” as an available action.

Each Smelter will tell you to speak to Smelter Shima, who can be found on the southwestern side of the Smelting Works near the buckets ofcoal and forge.

Ask Shima about the stolen silver, and he will tell you to speak to him outside the Smelting Works, away from all the other workers.

Follow Shima to the outside area and then speak to him to ask about the silver again. At first, he’ll be skeptical to tell you, but you can get the information out of him if youpass a dialogue check or pay him 200 Groschen.

When he finally speaks, he’ll mention that a guy named Volkmar is behind it, and you should go speak to him instead. This creates a new objective waypoint.

Questioning Volkmar

Head to the new objective, which covers a large amount of ground, and you canfind Volkmar leaning up against a building in the southern part of the objective area. Check out the image attached for Volkmar’s exact location.

Volkmar instantly disapproves of Henry and sends three men to attack him.I recommend killing the two men without shields first, who only take a couple of hits, and then turning your attention to the man with a shield.

This is the easiest way to go about thiscombat encounter, and remember, blocking and Master Strikes are your best friends here.

Sometimes, all players want is to explore without fighting. These games offer that exact experience.

After defeating the men, speak to Volkmar and begin to interrogate him. Eventually,he’ll admit that Buresh is the one involvedin the corruption of stolen silver. Unfortunately, he’s not sure if Vavak is involved.

Volkmar will also provide Henry with the location of a secret mint where the stolen silver ends up.

Investigating the Secret Mint

Due to the objective area being fairly large, it can be difficult to find the secret mint’s location at first. Just know thatthe secret mint is in the southern area, hidden in the trees. The image attached shows its location.

Enter the secret mint and climb down the ladders to reach the bottom floor. Continue straight through the mint until a cutscene begins, whereyou’ll encounter Buresh and a handful of soldiers.

There are a couple of ways to go about this interaction: you’re able to accept a bribe, or you can fight him and the other soldiers. No matter what you choose here, the objective remains the same, “find evidence against Vavak.”

To help make your decision, just know thatBuresh has key items on him for this quest:a Records Chest Key, a Letter to Buresh, and a Letter from Vavak.

In other words, you may kill him to get all of these items (a pretty challenging fight), or you can accept the bribe and then pickpocket him. For the latter, you can also wait until he is alone to stealth kill him with a dagger.

However, you decide to go about it,grab those necessary items, and make your way a bit further into the Mint until you reach a medium-difficulty locked door. If the lockpicking here is too difficult, thenjust attempting it a few times will draw the attention of the workers inside, leading them to open the door.

Once inside, open the chest in the room with the Records Chest Key and grab theSecret Mine Ledgers. With this in your hand, we finally have evidence against Vavak. Return to Christian Pisek to report your findings and complete the quest.
