They say that a dog is man’s best friend, and that’s been the case for centuries, as proven by the love between Henry and his dog Mutt in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
8 Best Cozy JRPGS You Need to Play
Equal parts relaxation and fun, so you are not just watching paint dry by the campfire.
From the moment you kick off this adventure with your traveling companions, you’ll see your loyal canine following behind. However, when things go wrong, and you’re split up from your furry friend, you’ll need to explore the world beyond Trozkovitz to find them.

It’s a real needle-in-a-haystack sort of situation, but provided you can follow what leads you have, you should be able to track them down and get your companion back alongside you for the remainder of the adventure.
So, to reunite Henry and Mutt, here is a guide on how to find your doggo.

Beginning The Quest
From the moment you are let off the leash after Hans decides to ditch you, you’ll have the opportunity to go looking for your canine companion, but you’ll have pretty much the entire map to comb through if you don’t narrow down your search a little.
After asking a few close-by NPCs in Trozkovitz, you should get the intel that the herbs-woman in the forest, who you’ll be familiar with already, would be the one who would most likely know where the dog was.

Plus, you can always go back to where you fell in the rocks, as this will give you an indication of where your dog ran off when you were separated.
Either way, doing these things will eventually lead you to the realization that your dog is most likely alive and has most likely joined a wolf pack to survive.

When you head back to the spot where you fell, you will most likely have to fight a Vagabond in the area, so be sure you have a weapon handy and know how combat works in KCD2.
Following Leads
Upon learning that your dog is masquerading as a wolf, it’s now your job to find the local wolf pack that he has aligned himself with.
DualShockers Definitives: Best JRPGs of 2024
2024 was a stellar year for JRPG fans, and the DS staff gathered to decide which title reigned supreme among all the impeccable releases.
You’ll likely have intel at this point from a local tavern woman or innkeeper that your best bets are to Kopanina to visit the local shepard who has been having trouble with some wolves. Or alternatively, you can head out toward Vidlak Pond, where you can speak to a Fisherman who will inform you of some dealings near Rockwater Pond.

Neither of these tasks they send you on will lead you to Mutt, but when you complete either of them, they will point you toward another helpful NPC that may help you, the Gameskeeper.
Of the two tasks, the Shepard is by far the easier of the two, as all you will need to do is head up into the hills, lure some wolves with spoiled meat, and then kill them. Wolves aren’t a tough fight in the early game, so this is an easy task to take on.
Instead of heading to the Gameskeeper’s house though, head north of Vidlak along the river, and you’ll find him trapped by some wolves up a tree.
This will begin the Lackey quest line, and this will need to be completed before you’re able to get any info from the Gameskeeper.
However, after clearing this quest, he will point you toward an area where there were reported wolf sightings near the Nomad Camp in the west. This tip proves to be a fruitful one as this is where you’ll encounter Mutt.
Encountering the Wolf Pack
Sadly, you won’t just encounter Mutt in this area; you’ll also encounter five hungry wolves. But the good news is that Mutt will be able to fight by your side and make the odds of survival a little more likely.
The key to survival here is to use Mutt’s ‘Sic’ command to take down wolves, allowing you to get a few swift hits in without reply. Plus, you’ll need to constantly position yourself so you always have the wolves in your sights so you don’t get caught off-guard and bitten.
After you kill one or two of the pack, the rest will likely flee, and you’ll officially be reunited with Mutt. However, there are some spoils to be had from surviving this attack.
You’ll want to head into the cave nearby, and in the pile of bones and carcasses, you’ll be able to search and find some quality meat, coin, and some expensive jewelry that can be sold for a pretty penny.
Then, I would also suggest butchering the wolves for their hide and meat, as wolves are one of the few animals that you can legally poach with no repercussions.
Commanding Mutt
Once Mutt is back by your side, it is your duty to look after him, keep him fed, and train him to be an obedient sidekick. However, he’s already pretty obedient when you get him back.
Provided you keep him fed and don’t neglect him, he will be able to lend a hand in combat, will follow you to heel on every adventure, and he’ll also be able to track if you need him to.
He’s a very useful companion to have, and in situations where you’d otherwise be up against multiple enemies and at a huge disadvantage, Mutt can really turn the tables on them.
However, if you ever want to go back to riding solo in KCD2, you may simply command Mutt to go home, and he will return to one of the default locations, which if you’re early on in the game, will most likely be Zheleov.
