Elden Ringis one of the more approachable games from FromSoftware, but that in no way means it’s easy. The game throws a lot at the player and can often be more disorienting and overwhelming. One very much still needs to ‘git gud’ when taking on the Lands Between.

Elden Ring’s Golden Shade Godfrey is no pushover.

Kai Cenat has been marathoning the game, and this has led to some amazing moments and memes. Being his first FromSoftware title, he’s going to understandably feel the heat. However, it seems he was more than up to the challenge when a fellow streamer offered an incentive.

Adin Ross Motivates Kai Cenat to Beat Elden Ring Boss on the First Try

In FromSoftware games, every death is meant to be a lesson. Indeed, the concept of coming back to life is baked into the games’ stories. The same is true for Elden Ring when one looks at the lore. But nothing can beats the feeling of taking down a boss in the first try. The feat is far more impressive when it’s a later-game boss.

Kai Cenat managed to do just this when facing off against a Great Enemy. The foe is the Golden Shade version of Godfrey, The First Elden Lord. While not as difficult as the variant we fight later on, it’s not a boss to be taken lightly, andKai has a history of unfortunate but funny deaths.

Adin Ross had placed a $100,000 bet with Cenat if he managed to beat the Golden Shade Godfrey on the very first try. This was a strong incentive for Cenat, who proceeded to take down the boss on the very first try. Using the Blasphemous Blade’s Takers Flame skill, he managed to take down the Shade before exclaiming, “W sword!”

After the fight, he calls Ross to boast about his victory. Ross offers him two options: the first being to cash out with the $100,000 for beating this boss, or go double or nothing for $200,000 by beating the next boss. Cenat chooses to cash out but says they can settle up on the day he beats the game.

Kai’s Stream Time Touches All-Time Highs

The streamer has been taking his Elden Ring journey very seriously, clocking in 100+ stream hours regularly since May 10. Much of this time has been dedicated to the game, and he’s even gone so far as tochange the look of his streaming room entirely. Filled with motifs related to the game, we can see the dedication the streamer has to the title.

The streamer even created an entire trailer announcing his plans to play Elden Ring. The trailer is quite well done and shows several characters that Kai will eventually have to face in the game. The description of the video states Kai will not end his stream until he has beaten the game.

While he may have beaten this boss on the very first try, Cenat is no stranger to dying in the game. In fact, the death counter during this fight alone shows 732, and previously he invested hours fighting an entirely optional boss.
