Since the start,Jujutsu Kaisenseason 2 has been all about Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai, and Master Tengen. And the Sorcerers have been working deliberately to make Riko Amanai’s merger with Tengen a success, while Toji Fishiguro, a group named Q, and Star Religious Group are working on stopping this merger from happening. But, at the center of this merger stands Riko Amanai, and all the attempts are made either o save her or to kill her. But this makes us ask, why has Riko Amanai become so much important in the series all of a sudden?

Well, let’s just say that without Riko Amanai’s cooperation, the very existence of Jujutsu High and other vital sanctuaries for sorcerers would be perilously threatened like never before. Although both Riko Amanai and Master Tengen are hardly talked about in the series, they work as a backbone for the safety of the Jujutsu society.
Riko Amanai Identifies As The Current Star Plasma Vessel
The concept of Star Plasma Vessel and its use in the series is not something new. It’s just that their use is required nearly after every 500 years, which is the reason we don’t usually hear about them in the series that often. But now, since the last merger of Tengen and the Star Plasma Vessel was done long back, the series has started to revolve around Riko Amanai and the merging process.
Similar is the case with Master Tengen. Theydon’t work on the frontlines like Gojo and the others, so their name hardly pops in the series, but their importance in the series is of utmost significance. However, to keep Master Tengen working, the so-called Star Plasma Vessel is required, which currently is Riko Amanai. It’s not like anyone could become the Star Plasma Vessel. They are the chosen ones who are deemed compatible with Master Tengen, and usually, they are young girls; however, the exact reason for their compatibility is not stated.
Why Is Riko Amanai Important To The Series?
Riko is not a powerful Sorcerer or a great fighter whose sorcery is deemed necessary to save humanity from Curses. But her importance is directly linked to Tengen and her compatibility as a Star Plasma Vessel. Tengen is aJujutsu sorcerer who is considered a god-like figure by some, and they remain within theTombs of the Star Corridorwith little to no interaction with the real world ever in their life. Jujutsu High and other important locations related to Jujutsu sorcerers demand constant protection from thepublic, Curses, and infiltratorswho are deemed a threat to their existence, and Master Tengen’s barriers are the ones that provide the necessary protection. So,their importance to the series is never-ending.
Although Master Tengen is an immortal being, their aging process remains constant. That’s why their body needs a completely new resetting after every 500 years, for which a Star Plasma Vessel is required. Failing to do so would continue the aging process of Master Tengen, and their existence would turn from a sorcerer to something similar to a Curse, resulting in compromising with the barriers, thus revealing the existence of Jujutsu High and other locations to the public and Curses.
In the worst case, Tengen might even lose his self-awareness and turn into an immortal enemy of humanity. So, it’s the girls like Riko Amanai who are found compatible with Master Tengen and sacrifice themselves to renew his existence over a period of time and ensure the safety of the sorcerers and their whereabouts.
