Séance Technique: How Did Toji Fushiguro Come Back To Life?

Toji Fushiguro was able to return to life thanks to a special cursed technique called Séance. This technique was used by an old, evil lady namedOgamiduring the catastrophic Shibuya Incident. Ogami is a dangerous curse user who joined forces with Kenjaku. Her innate cursed technique gives her the ability to transform herself or someone else into a deceased person.

During the chaos of the incident,Ogami decided to use her grandson as a vessel to summon Toji back to life. By using Séance, she was able to call forth Toji’s physical form and abilities, but not his actual soul or personality. This allowed Ogami to try to control Toji’s powerful body. However, her plan backfired when Toji’s strong will allowed him to regain consciousness and take control.

Toji murdered Ogami without hesitation and explained that he had defeated her grandson’s soul. Now unleashed in the body of Ogami’s grandson, Toji was free to wreak havoc during the Shibuya Incident. Though a sinister Séance technique was used to revive him,Toji’s sheer power and determination allowed him to overcome the one who brought him back to life.

How Heavenly Restriction Affected Toji’s Ressurection

The Séance Technique is a bit like a phone call to the afterlife. It’s used to contact the dead and bring back either some information about their soul or even their physical body. Think of it like a life-like hologram with the physical abilities of the person it’s imitating. This technique usually ends when the person using it runs out of cursed energy.

Toji is a special case because he was born with Heavenly Restriction. This essentially means he was born without any cursed energy. In return, he received superhuman physical abilities. When Toji was ‘brought back,’ his physically superior body (thanks toHeavenly Restriction) replaced the soul of Ogami’s grandson.

Because Toji’s body doesn’t use cursed energy. and his soul didn’t have any, there was no way for the Séance Technique to know when to end. It’s like the phone call to the afterlife got stuck in a loop and couldn’t hang up. So, Toji’s soul was able to remain in control of the body indefinitely. Because of this unusual situation,Toji became a sort of unstoppable fighting machine, acting purely on instinct and not controlled by anyone or anything.

Toji’s Role In Shibuya Incident Arc

When Toji came back, all were astounded to see his mastery over the Zenin family’s cursed tools. He handled the unwieldy weapons with an ease that exceeded evenMaki’s skills. It was clear he hadn’t lost any of his strength and dexterity in the time since his death. It turns out Toji is a master of pretty much every weapon. Even without some of his most powerful tools, he was still a force to be reckoned within this arc.

Megumi Vs. Toji

Toji literally became a killing machine in the arc. However, when he encountered Megumi, something changed. The two then engaged in physical combat. The confrontation between Toji Fushiguro and his son Megumi offered a stark contrast in power and approach. Megumi struggled to mount any effective offense or defense against his father’s onslaught. Clearly outmatched in raw power, he was tossed around forcefully, unable to gain any advantage in the fight.

But the real emotional crux of the battle was the twisted father-son relationship between the two. The two couldn’t recognize each other and Toji, despite having abandoned Megumi at a young age, showed a strange sense of pride in his son when he heard him reject the Zenin family name and call himself a ‘Fushiguro.’ Perhaps this was a kind of redemption for Toji, who had lived a life filled with violence and bloodshed. In the end,Toji chose to end his own life, sparing his son from having to kill his own father, a tragic end to a tragic life.
