Gojo’s Past Arc takes place a few years before the events ofJujutsu Kaisenseason one. We see a much younger and less experienced Gojo and Geto on a mission to protect the Star Plasma Vessel.

While their mission is to protect Riko, Toji is hired by the Star Religious Group to kill Riko before she can merge with Master Tengen. At the end of the third episode, we see Toji defeat Gojo, breaking through his Limitless many times to stab him, but how was he able to do it?
What Is Limitless
Limitless is Gojo’s Cursed Technique,and Infinity, a part of Limitless, is oftenseen as a perfect defense. By altering the space around him, Gojo is able toexpand the space in front of an object or person coming towards him. By expanding that space, the object will move slower and slower, going intoinfinitely smaller fractions of space until it seemingly stops moving.
Even at his younger age, Gojo’sLimitless made him famous in the Jujutsu World. As this defense is seemingly perfect, it onlyfurther fuels Gojo’s confidence and cockiness,leading to him not always trying in battles and sometimes playing with his opponents beforedefeating them effortlessly. Even the strongest Cursed Techniques are unable to touch Gojo,making him the strongest sorcerer in the world. We see him not even reacting to dozens of knives that are stopped before hitting him and even walking closer to them after they are caught by Limitless. Due to this seemingly perfect defense,Gojo is all the more surprised and caught off guard when Toji is able to break throughLimitless, quickly leading to Gojo losing his focus in battle.
The Inverted Spear of Heaven
Toji may not be able to wield Cursed Energybut does have alarge arsenal of Cursed Tools within his Hidden Inventory. He has many different Cursed Tools that assist him when hunting Jujutsu Sorcerers to be able to match the power of theirCursed Techniques. One of hisCursed Tools is the Inverted Spear of Heaven.

This Cursed Tool is a two-bladed dagger-sized weapon. It hasthe ability to nullify any Cursed Technique it comes in contact with, dispelling the effect. When this dagger came into contact with Gojo’s Limitless barrier,the dagger was able to nullify Limitless, passing right through to stab Gojo. After the Limitless barrier was broken, Toji was then able to attack with both the Inverted Spear of Heaven and another weapon to finish Gojo off.
What Are Cursed Tools
Cursed Tools are one of the many equalizers in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. These are weapons or items that havebeen infused with Cursed Energy, sometimes gaining a Cursed Technique that gives anyone able to wield them a powerequal to that of many Cursed Techniques. Cursed Tools give characters likeMaki or Tojithe ability towield Cursed Energy in battle without actually wielding Cursed Energy directly.
