Jon Bernthal joins Fellow Marvel Stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, and More
Bernthal will complete the Marvel trifecta, joining Spider-Man starsTom Holland, who is set to play the lead role in The Odyssey, and Zendaya. The trio has yet to play any sort of role in a Nolan adaptation, but they are all quickly on the rise in Hollywood. Bernthal himself recently won anEmmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Seriesfor his appearance in FX’s The Bear in 2024, his first major award in his career.
Bernthal is set for a massive next couple of years in the mainstream media. He has beenconfirmed to return as The Punisherin the latest Daredevil reboot series Daredevil: Born Again, coming to Disney+ this March, and is also starring opposite Ben Affleck in the upcoming sequel The Accountant 2, which will debut in theaters just a month after Daredevil in late April. In the next two calendar years, Bernthal will play critical roles in films and TV shows backed by Amazon MGM studios, Disney/Marvel, and a Christopher Nolan-backed Universal project.
What We Know About Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey So Far
With the addition of Jon Bernthal, the full casting list honestly looks like a tribute to the best actors of the last few years. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, and finally Jon Bernthal are all set to play unknown roles in Nolan’s IMAX reimagining of one of the oldest stories from the West the world has ever known. In a similar fashion to The Oppenheimer cast, Nolan has found a good mix of actors who have and have not starred in one of his motion pictures before. Hathaway, Pattinson, and Damon have all worked with Nolan before, while Zendaya, Holland, Theron, Nyong’o, and Bernthal have not.
It is not yet known what roles any of the cast are set to play in Nolan’s Odyssey adaptation. It is rumored thatTom Holland and Matt Damon will likely have lead roles, but outside of that, we know filming could begin as early as next month with the movie’s debut set for July of 2026. Homer’s The Odyssey is an epic poem following the adventures of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, who wanders the world for a decade trying desperately to get back to his home after the Trojan War.
