Not only does he want no green screens and very limited CGI, but Álvarez even utilized handmade miniatures of spaceships. Putting him at odds with other filmmakers, Álvarez is not bothered by it at all and has no plans to abandon practical effects at all.

While his words are true, for even the audiences willing watch and love ‘unrealistic’ movies like Marvel or DC, Álvarez has no plans to abandon practical effects for the sake of invoking realism in his upcomingAlien: Romulus.
The special effects movies used [to provoke a reaction of] ‘Wow, I can’t believe I’m seeing this!’ And it seems like those movies have given up for the most part. But we haven’t, which has been an enormous task for us, to really push everybody involved in understanding that particularly with Alien, you need to believe that what you’re looking at is real.
