Alan Wake 2was a tremendous success for Remedy Entertainment if you look at it from the perspective of a fan and a consumer. Despite the critical reception and positive reviews from fans and critics alike, the game is struggling to make a fortune which is essential in this line of business. No amount of positive reviews from word of mouth will accumulate into real currency but there is one other thing fans should bear in mind about how one classic is being treated.

Modern games wouldn’t have existed if it weren’t for earlier titles that showed the world the potential of gaming. Players reflect on the loveless port of the originalMax Payneon the PlayStation 4 a matter worth addressing.
Alan Wake 2Needs to Break Even to Encourage Developers to Better Respect Older Titles
The game developers of Remedy Entertainment made some moves that could drastically affect the futures ofControlandAlan Wakeafter the companygained the full rights to each respective franchise. This means the developers can freely operate and pursue whatever project they see fit for the franchise, and this could be one way for the studio to combat the lackluster sales ofAlan Wake 2since the game never had a physical release.
Sales may be the least of the studio’s problems as they fail to realize the poorly optimized classic titles of modern consoles. Fans reminisced the days when the originalMax Paynewas released and it was a groundbreaking success back then that didn’t age well after playing the game on the PlayStation 4.

The beloved classic is cursed witha terrible live-action adaptationand a poorly made modern port. The gaming community expressed their opinions about the port and how it tarnished the memory of the original version many years ago.
There is only so much developers can do when a game is designed to run at a certain state given the technical limitations at the time of development. However, theMax Payneport could been a tad better and held it in the same respect as other remastered classic games that stood well against the test of time.

Preserving these legacy titles with the treatment they deserve should be a priority. These games were an important part of the history of video game development, and it would be nice to offer older players a decent experience if they chose to revisit these timeless classics.
Playing the FirstMax Payneon the PlayStation 4 Is Maximum Pain
If this level of porting persists, no classic game made by Remedy Entertainment will be safe from a horrid experience. Sadly some aspects cannot be changed or improved by porting like the writing and dialogue; however, a smooth performance could make a massive difference.
“What the f**k. This is fantastic!”: VFX Artist Turns to Alan Wake 2 for Their Latest LEGO Scene, and It May Just Rival THAT Scene From Marvel’s Across the Spiderverse
The gaming community can get nostalgic and seek any method to find what was lost. Remasters and remakes can be a hit-or-miss and there is likely little hassle when developers port a classic game through emulation. Players often describe the PlayStation 4 version as rough and not doing a great job of bringing back memories.
Rockstar Games currently holds the rights to the Max Payne franchise and has no plans to pursue another sequel. Hopefully, Remedy Entertainment can do justice with the upcoming remakes and do it in earnest.

Alan Wake 2is a fantastic game but it missed sales expectations. Perhaps the remakes of the first twoMax Paynegames can make a difference.
