A lot of franchises die out over the course of time due to multiple reasons but as it turns out,Kick-Asswas definitely not of those franchises. Many fans thought since there has been no news about the future of the series for years now, maybe the franchise is all done now. However, everyone’s beloved R-rated superhero franchise is all set to comeback as recently hinted by the director, Matthew Vaughn in an interview.

Matthew Vaughn reveals that theKick-Ass 3movie is already in the works
As almost every fan of theKick-Assfranchise would agree, everyone has been looking forward to a 3rd sequel in the franchise for more than a decade now since the release ofKick-Ass 2back in 2013. And, it seems like finally the fans’ prayers have been answered as in a recent interview withCollider, Matthew Vaughn the director of the first movie revealed that a third movie of the franchise is definitely in the works and even the script is halfway done. He said,
“We’re halfway through it. There’s a very, very dare I say it… and it’s gonna be a cliche coming out of this head of mine. It is a very, very meta universe. It is what, you know, ‘Kick Ass’ was reinventing and creating a R-rated superhero and no one was really doing it. This is taking that whole concept to a worthy…not even a sequel, because I think it’s just a whole new way of doing ‘Kick Ass,’ which couldn’t be more ‘Kick Ass.“

Matthew Vaughnfurther revealed that the release date of the movie is not yet set. Of course, that is completely justified, considering even the script is not yet completely written.

The Jim Carrey controversy inKick-Ass 2
The legendary Canadian-American actor,Jim Carreywho portrayed an important role inKick-Ass 2, started condemning the violence in his own movie before its release in light of the Sandy Hook shooting which occurred a month later after the filming of the movie had wrapped up. The actor took to Twitter(now-deleted account) and wrote,
“I did Kick-Ass 2 a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

A total of 26 people died in the tragic incident at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting when 20-year-old Adam Lanza brought a gun to the school and shot many children. Though the incident was very saddening and everyone condemned the violence in real life, Jim Carrey’s comments on denouncing his own movie were not taken very well by the crew of the movie.
