Mads Mikkelsen has been in several award-winning and critically acclaimed projects over the years. Be it playing a Bond villain inCasino Royaleor starring as the legendary Hannibal Lecter, the actor has truly showcased his range to the world. However, if there is one project that perfectly encapsulates the skills that he possesses, it is 2020’s Danish classic,Another Round.

The film gained him more than some recognition, earning two Oscar nominations and one win. Considering how iconic the film is, it is not surprising that Hollywood wants to make an English remake of it.

With Chris Rock at the head of it, the director of the original films apparently has some words to give to the comedian, and they are not very kind. In fact, he brought up quite a publicly humiliating moment in Rock’s professional career.

Another Round for Mads Mikkelsen’sAnother Round

Chris Rockhas become well-known for many things in the film industry. While most remember his infamous encounter with Will Smith at the Oscars, he is a lot more than the slaps that have happened to him. He has been a part of several beloved comedy films likeMadagascar,Grown Ups, and evenFargo. However, many may not know that he has also dabbled in directing.

Starting off all the way in 2003, it would seem that the actor has been getting more and more serious about his directing chair. Recently, it was announced that Rock will be making the remake ofMads Mikkelsen’sAnother Roundfor an English audience (viaVulture).

With this, there have come many questions and comments from people wondering if he is the right person for the job or if a remake is even needed. Amid all this discussion, the director of the 2020 film has actually commented on his thoughts on the matter, and he certainly used some very strong words.

Thomas Vinterberg has a very clear plan if Chris Rock messes up his remake

During a recent interview with the newspaperEkstra Bladet, the director and co-writer ofAnother Round, Thomas Vinterberg, revealed his thoughts on Chris Rock making a remake of his classic. He started off easy, mentioning that the choice to pick Rock as the director of the project proved to be very exciting for him.

Sorry Mads Mikkelsen, but Idris Elba Can’t Be the Next James Bond Over Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson for This Reason

He further added that he was also very ecstatic about what the comedian came up with and hoped that it would all be good. Interestingly enough, Vinterberg addressed the possibility of the remake not being good. He mentioned that if that were to happen, Rock would experience a repeat of what happened to him at the 2020 Oscars.

The choice of Chris Rock is exciting. It’s exciting what he comes up with. I am full of good expectations. If it’s sh-t, he’ll get slapped again.

Famously, Rock was slapped by Will Smith on live television for a joke that he made directed at the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. While Vinterberg was saying this as a joke, there is no denying that he holds the 2020 film very close to his heart and would not like it if it was ruined in an attempt to capture the beauty of the original.

Another Roundis available for streaming on Prime Video.
