In a recent interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu, Miyazaki talks in detail about what the future holds for his trademark Soulsborne formula-based games. Instead of talking about a sequel to the popular game, he reiterated his desire to develop more games that have a setting of the magnitude ofThe Lands Between.

In the comprehensive interview with the magazine, Miyazaki outlines a number of details that are pertinent to the lore ofElden Ringas well as stressing his desire to make more games of similar scale.

Elden Ring 2 Isn’t on the Cards (Yet)

During the interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke extensively on the lore of Elden Ring along with confirming that the mysterious white-clad figure on Torrent in Shadow of Erdtree is Miquella. He shed light on several other topics but unfortunately didn’t have any positive response to anElden Ringsequel as of yet but he maintained that he is not closing the doors on anything.

At the very end of the interview, the interviewer asked Miyazaki whether he had the desire to create more games on the scale ofElden Ring. To which he replied,

Yes, I do. I can’t say if it’s something I can get to right away, but if I am allowed, I want to try. The staff and everyone probably feel the same, but we want to take advantage of this experience we had with Elden Ring, but rather than that and above all, creating huge worlds and adventures is amazingly fun. It thrills me.

But when asked previously about further expansions and DLCs after theShadow of the Erdtree, Miyazaki replied in his usual brisk manner,

No, at this point we have no plan to release another DLC after this one. In terms of DLC being added to the main story of Elden Ring, I think this will mark a large milestone. However, that’s not to say that all of Elden Ring has come to an end. I may have said the same thing with Dark Souls III, but I don’t want to make any decisive statements to rule out any future possibilites.

Though this doesn’t clarify any doubts, fans can rest assured that the door to expansion ofElden Ringisn’t closed forever.

Miyazaki’s World Building Prowess Can Be the Key

While Hidetaka Miyazaki had been coy in his replies and suggested that there aren’t any future projects planned as of yet, his interest in building large, expansive, and immersive worlds is good news for fans of the Soulsborne formula and Miyazaki’s games in general.

Apart from being exceptionally well-versed in combining with other maestros, like George R. R. Martin, Hidetaka Miyazaki has proved time and again that he is a master of the craft. So, fans can rest assured that in the near future, there are going to be amazing new projects from his team, if all goes accordingly.
