Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of the most established wrestlers and actors of all time and is constantly making headlines for one reason or another. A lot of things have happened over the past few weeks that have put the future of Johnson as an actor into question.
A few weeks ago, he became a board member of the TKO holding group, the parent company of the WWE and UFC merger. Last week, he even made his return to the WWE and challenged his cousin, Roman Reigns at the main event of the WrestleMania.
The Rock talks about his return to Wrestling and WWE
The Rock returned to the WWE last week and announced that he would be facing Roman Reigns at the main event of WrestleMania 40 taking the place of this year’s Royal Rumble match winner, Cody Rhodes. However, earlier this week at the WrestleMania kickoff Press conference which was held in Las Vegas,The Rock proceeded to slap Rhodeson stage and even butted heads with the CCO of the company, Triple H.

It seems likeDwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnsonis looking to make his comeback as a part-time wrestler and the stage for that is set now. In a recent interview withEntertainment Tonight, the acting sensation revealed that he has only come back to the company because of his love for the sport. He said,
“I love it, I love what I do, I love this world of wrestling, I love pro wrestling, I was born into pro wrestling, I will always be a pro wrestler at heart and in attitude too.”
Johnson further opened up about his appointment as a board member of the TKO holding group and also talked about how he went on to visit the WWE Headquarters at Stamford. TheJumanjiactor talked about how he is so proud of all the work his grandfather and father put in for WWE. He said,
“I’m so grateful for the work that he put in and the ground that he laid, [with] my grandfather and all the other wrestlers. But also, I’m so grateful to come back in this capacity that I could come back and give to this business and give to the men and women in that locker room, and try and do my little part to do this with everything and create greater opportunities for all of them.”
Although the wrestling career of Dwayne Johnson is looking up at the moment, the same can not be said about his acting career.
Dwayne Johnson’s acting career has taken a hit
Things have not been looking too good for Dwayne Johnson’s career as an actor in Hollywood for the last few years. The American actor has failed to give a blockbuster for quite some time now and his last movie wasBlack Adamwhich turned out to be a huge flop at the box office.

His series,Young Rockwent on strong for 3 seasons and largely received positive reviews from fans and critics. However, in June 2023,Young Rockwas canceled allegedly due to a drop in ratings.
NBC chose to air the series at the same time as Fox chose to air WWE SmackDown. When fans were given a choice between watching live wrestling and a series about the past of The Rock, they would choose live wrestling 9 out of 10 times.
Dwayne Johnson also does not have any major Hollywood projects lined up other thanMoana 2and the biographical movie,The Smashing Machinein which he would be portraying the role of UFC champion Mark Kerr.
