For weeks I watched every new episode that came out, and for weeks I had been waiting forDragon Ball DAIMAto give me that little factor that classifies it as a great anime and not just a good anime. The sixth episode was one that had me grinning because of just how fun it was. While many would jump to compare the series withDragon Ball GT, this episode has proven them just as wrong.

While the episode starts off with something I found somewhat irrelevant, it added to the fact that Panzy was more than capable of fixing a broken-down ship without Bulma being in the picture. It shows that she isn’t just here to be a female character of the series but one who can also contribute to the team. Ever since the series started, this episode alone is one that I had the most fun watching.
Dragon Ball DAIMA is Finally Going Somewhere
This episode ofDragon Ball DAIMAwas different from the previous ones but it still managed to maintain the essence of the anime nonetheless. It had a better tone with even more balanced pacing. From the action to the comedy and even the serious moments, there seemed to be a direction in which the episode was going without making it seem like it was all about Goku’s quirky antics and all that has attracted fans for so long.
My demands for a satisfactory battle kept growing with each episode and finally, I can say that what came with Glorio vs Goku wasn’t just beautifully animated but also incredibly fun to watch. It was unexpected seeing that the Minotaur would have made a great opponent at first glance but for Glorio to take up the fight instead was definitely a twist I welcomed.

Dragon Ball DAIMA isn’t Afraid to Rely on GT When it Matters the Most Despite its Polarizing Reputation
From the Minotaur to Goku’s bathroom breaks, there was a soft balance of comedy and action that was otherwise a little childish in previous episodes. Moreover, the Supreme Kai’s doubts about Glorio finally lead to a revelation about just what his intentions might be. The entire episode was a bomb of information.
From how the Glinds are born to who is pulling Glorio’s strings, it was all just a fun ride of how well the anime is building its story. The plot that had previously felt slow in progression now contributes to a bigger picture, hinting that fans know only a little of what is to come.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Might Take a Darker Turn
Two parts in particular stood out the most for me. One was the fight sequence between Glorio and Goku while the other was about Dr. Arinsu’s involvement in Glorio’s plan. The fight itself came out of nowhere and that wasn’t a bad thing either. It was fun to understand just how powerful a freshly introduced character can be to an otherwise assumed to be a weaker version of Goku. While the fight was an obvious win for the latter, the execution is where my focus went.
The animation quality was leaps and bounds better than any, especially that ofDragon Ball GT. The characters and storyline are better explored which creates better groundwork and sets it apart.DAIMAspecifically taps into the roots of the franchise while also embracing the new, making it much better than the series many compare it to.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Can Fix Its Major Action Problem by Bringing Back the One Character They Never Should Have Sidelined
The second area of focus was Glorio and his connection to Dr. Arinsu. Not only does this give a premonition to the fact that Glorio may not be acting under his own accord, but also that her being a mad scientist could have something to do with it. My first thought when she came in the first episode was that she reminded me of Dottore. I had no idea why, with the little information that was given to her. However, Glorio’s unique magic has further given fuel to the fire.
Glorio’s magic was unusual, despite his being from the Third Demon World and living in the First. It got me thinking, what if he was experimented on by Dr. Arinsu and he is being used by her as a pawn? It would give him an opportunity to side himself with Goku’s team, seeing now that Vegeta’s trip has been postponed even more.

Rating: 9/10
