Tom Cruise’sTop Gun: Maverickis one of the best movies to have been released recently and watching it in theatres was one hell of an experience. Both adrenaline and emotions were at an all-time high and we were on the edge of our seats for half the film. Remember when Maverick and Goose died but Glen Powell’s Hangman swooped in to save the day? We all collectively released a breath we didn’t know we were holding in. Basically, the film was a 10/10 experience.

AfterMaverick,Glen Powell seems to have become Hollywood’s favorite as his career is soaring through the skies. He will soon be seen in Lee Isaac Chung’sTwisterswhich is releasing in just a few days. While the trailer was quite good, fans initially believed the disaster film would be nothing extraordinary. However, they may need to reconsider their stance, asTwistershas now been compared toMaverick.
Glen Powell’s ‘Twisters’is on a Roll
Twisterscurrently has a rating of 76% on Rotten Tomatoes out of 21 reviews, which is significantly higher than the OGTwister’s 63%, at least for now. While fans initially did not have much hope for the film and thought that it would just be another disaster film added to the many already out there, critics’ reviews have left them stunned.
Just a few days before the film’s release, praise has been pouring in left and right for theDaisy Edgar-JonesandGlen Powell-starrer. From the action to the storyline to the actors’ performances, critics cannot stop raving about it all.

Glen Powell’s Summer Blockbuster ‘Twisters’ Has 1 Major Influence From Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan
The Independent’s Clarisse Loughrey gaveTwistersfour out of five stars and wrote that the film would’ve had 2024’s“sequence if Furiosa hadn’t decided to crawl under an oil tanker two months ago.”Second-best is pretty great too, right? She stated that the film has“compassionate, rational heroes,”before adding that the“force rattles right through your bones.”
Empire MagazineandTotal Filmboth gave it four out of five stars as well. While the former stated that the film“more than delivers on action,”the latter wrote thatTwistersis an improvement from its predecessor. In the words of Total Film’s Jamie Graham,

Twisters outstrips Jan de Bont’s original blustery blockbuster for scale, while keeping things shudderingly immersive. You’ll emerge bruised and buffeted, and likely hoping it’s not another 28 years until we twist again.
Collidergave it a score of 8/10 calling it a“satisfying follow-up to the original”and praising the actors for their“charismatic performances.”

However, the best review seems to have come fromThe Telegraphwho gave the film 5/5 stars and compared it toTom Cruise’s 2022 blockbuster,Top Gun: Maverick,a film that made$1.46 billionat the box office.Film critic Robbie Collin wrote thatTwistersis“the best cinematic experience since Top Gun: Maverick”and has “one of the most inspired action scenes you’ve seen in years.”
Well, sinceMaverick’s directorJoseph Kosinskiwas the one responsible for the story ofTwisters,we aren’t too surprised here.

Fans Are Pleasantly Surprised with the Outcome
After learning that the upcoming film was voted so highly by critics everywhere, fans were taken aback as many of them initially believed that the reviews would be mediocre at best. Fans also praised Powell for being on fire lately with one great performance after the next.

Who the fuck saw this coming? It’s actually GOOD??? 😭 I’m shocked. I thought the reviews would be mid.

This is great for Daisy Edgar-Jones after Where The Crawdads Sing! This is great for Anthony Ramos after Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts!pic.twitter.com/qllILxDrMM
