Adam Driver was always hesitant about playing the role of Kylo Ren

In an interview withRolling Stone, Driver even revealed that before being cast forStar Wars: The Force Awakens,he was very hesitant to pick up the role because he wasn’t much favoring the idea of making anotherStar Warsmovie.
Although he did end up portraying the role of Kylo Ren, Driver specified that it was never “an easy yes. I took a while to think about it.” He added,

“Just because people can remake something, or revisit a world, doesn’t necessarily mean they should. I’ve seen a lot of bigger-budget movies that sacrifice character and stories for spectacle, and I had no idea what it was going to look like or what the script was. But the first words out of J.J.’s[Abrams] mouth were about character and story. It was all really cool.”

The65actor reveals thatStar Warswas too exhausting for him
Adam Driver recently appeared on theSmartLesspodcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, & Will Arnett and talked about how the pace of these multi-billion dollar franchise movie sets is drastically different from the individual movie sets. According to Driver, he was not able to adjust to the slow pace of thoseStar Warssets and therefore he constantly found himself exhausted. He said,
“Star Wars was way more exhausting for me. I made it more exhausting than it should have been because I hadn’t quite figured out the momentum of a set that was that big before. All the things I had worked on were pretty small and moved pretty fast…Usually, the director sets the pace of the set. I don’t like to be the person that tries to control the rhythm or pace of a set. I have to adjust.”
