Lizzo sent the world of social media into a frenzy when she posted just days ago on her Instagram that she is quitting. Although the singer did not clarifywhat exactlywas she quitting, fans and haters took it as her quitting music and the music industry for good following the many lawsuits lodged against her.
As her post went viral, fans were disheartened while her haters rejoiced. Meanwhile, the lawyer representing the three dancers suing her went on to state that it was just another PR stunt by the Grammy winner. And proving him right is Lizzo’s recent statement explaining that she isn’t going anywhere.
Lizzo is NOT Quitting Music After All
Since last year,Lizzohas been busybattling the clout of lawsuits and the backlashshe has been receiving following them. Last year, three of her backup dancers accused her of a hostile work environment including s*xual harassment (viaVariety). And so, ever since then, the Grammy-winning singer has been at the receiving end of several hate campaigns by fans and critics. On 31 March, Lizzo posted onInstagramthat she would be quitting, prompting many to decipher it as her decision to leave social media and music.
But now in a new video onInstagram, she clarified what herI quitstatement meant,
“I wanted to make this video because I just need to clarify when I say ‘I quit,’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention… What I’m not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music and connecting to people. And I know I’m not alone. In no way shape or form am I the only person experiencing that negative voice that’s louder than the positive.”
