The action-adventure film managed to create a special place in the hearts of its viewers and the casting ofBrendan Fraserand Rachel Weisz was loved by the fans.
With natural chemistry between the main cast, and the ability to crack jokes despite a resurrected mummy trying to kill the protagonist was something that was loved by the fans. Despite having a trilogy, the fans wanted a fourth film, but their wishes were not followed because, in 2017, the franchise received a reboot whereThe Whaleactor was replaced by Tom Cruise.

Now, after 25 years, Stephen Sommers gives fans an update about the possibility of a 4th film, that fans have been asking for ages. While celebrating the silver jubilee of the film, the director shared withThe Hollywood Reporterabout the possibility of the 4th film and if any studio would be interested in makingThe Mummy 4.
“Not that I know. All the people at Universal are new after I left. Idon’treally know them, and theyhaven’tgot a hold of me, so Idon’tknowwhat’sin their heads. At the same time, it would have to be something really special. Of course, I would work with all of those actors again.”

Even though Sommers has hinted at his interest in creating a fourth film featuring his original cast from the trilogy, Universal Studios have not released any official comments or hinted to their fans that a possible fourth film, featuring their favorite adventurer and the resurrected pharaoh would take placein the near future.
Brendan Fraser is Up ForThe Mummy 4
Back in January 2023, Fraser was present onDeadline’sTheActor’sSide podcast with Pete Hammond, where he was asked if he would like to return to reprise his iconic role of RickO’Connellone more time in a 4th film. The actor was excited as he shared that he would not turn down the opportunity to play the role so“sign me up.“He said,
“Gosh, Idon’tknow any juicy details about it. Butit’skind of an open-ended question for some time now.I’mnot opposed to it. Idon’tknow an actor thatdoesn’twant a job. Idon’tthinkI’vebeen this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up.”

Moreover, Fraser said on theEntertainment Weekly podcast, that he would be more than happy to return to the franchise to work with the original cast as the role is very dear to his heart.
“Sounds like fun.I’malways looking for a job. Ifanyone’sgot the right conceit. I thinkI’venever been as famous, and never been as unsalaried at the moment as I am right now. So spread the word.”

Though everyone is on board to work on the 4th film, it now depends on either Universal Studios or a different studio to revive the fan-favorite franchise.
