Teasing an epic fight, new villains, and multiverse madness, Marvel Studios officially dropped the firstDeadpool 3trailer during the 2024 Super Bowl. Also, we now have the official title for the film, which will be calledDeadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool 3sees Ryan Reynold back as the Merc with a Mouth, in his own words as “Marvel Jesus.” And he brings back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine — who fans saw die in 2017’s sendoff movieLogan. In the first trailer, Wolverine’s face is not shown. Only fans can see him from behind when Deadpool faces off against him.

Although the trailer doesn’t give us a full glimpse of Wolverine, we catch him from behind and a shadow right at the end, followed by a quick flash of his iconic yellow suit.
The storyline takes an intriguing turn as members of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the multiversal organization introduced in the Disney+ seriesLoki, embark on a mission to track down and locate Wade Wilson. In a brief exchange, Matthew Macfadyen’s TVA character encourages Wade, emphasizing his uniqueness and the opportunity to become a hero among heroes.
“Wade, you are special. This is your chance to be a hero among heroes,” says Matthew Macfadyen’s unnamed TVA character.
“I smell what you’re stepping in, sensei,”Wade responds. “You’re little cinematic universe is about to change forever. I’m the messiah. I…am…Marvel Jesus.”
It’s the first time Jackman’s Wolverine shares the screen with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool/Wade Wilson since 2009’sX-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman took to his official X, formerly known as Twitter handle, to fix something. As we have seen the movie title in the trailer, Jackman makes slight changes in the title and gives us his version of the title-Wolverine & A*shole.

Deadpool & Wolverineis the only movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be released in theaters in 2024. It also happens to be the first MCU film to be R-rated. In an interview withDeadline,Marvel’s president, Kevin Feige, earlier said that among all the films in production for Marvel’s Phase 5 and Phase 6, onlyDeadpool 3was going to have an R-rating.
“Other than Deadpool, which has already established itself as a certain genre and a certain rating, that we already said we would not mess with when we started working on Deadpool,” Feige explained. “Other than that, we haven’t encountered a story or a storyline or a character’s journey that a PG-13 rating, or the tone, or the ratings we’ve been using up to this point has prevented us [from telling that story.]”
