How To Defeat The Black Wind King

Okay, so let’s get into the meat and potatoes of this fight against the Black Wind King. When the fight begins, you’ll have enough time tocast your Gaungmou Spirit Transformation, so do this before they come at you.

Then, as they attack, cast your immobilisation spell to get some early hitswhile ensuring your snakes land as many hits as possible.

After this fast start, the Black Wind Kingwill likely use a firebreath attack. They will take a swig from their Gourd and breathe fire directly in front of them. It’s best to try and get in behind them as they take a drink, and then you’re able to land a few hits in relative safety.

After this, the boss will then usetheir signature black wind attack, where they become a series of black particles and float around the arena.

When these particles rush toward you, you’ll want to dodge to avoid them. This can be hard to time, so spamming the dodge button initially will help you make sense of the timing.

You can completely stop this attack from happening if you use the Immobilization Spell on the Black Wind King when they are in their particle state.

This attack will happen four times. Then, the Black Wind King will enter the center of the arena and perform a wide AOE attack, which is best avoided by going to the edge of the arenaand waiting for the ground to crack upon impact.

Other than these two attacks, the Black Wind King will generally attack in three-strike combos, and it’s best to try and avoid the first two and then gear up for a counterstrike when you avoid the third.

The only exception to this is when he uses his attack where he casually walks away and fades into the air. Then quickly reappears to perform a quick strike.

This attack hits particularly hard, so it’s best to wait for them to appear and immediately dodge. Getting the timing of this one right is crucial if you want to succeed.

Then finally, when they reach the last 20% of their health bar, they will gain access to a back slam attack, which acts like a small AOE blast if you get caught up in it. The best thing to do here is play it safe, not get greedy, and wait for safe openings to whittle down the last of their health.

Rewards For Defeating The Black Wind King

If you manage to defeat the Black Wind King, you will gain the following rewards for your efforts:

The standout reward here is theCloud StepSpell which essentially makes you invisible for a brief period, allowing you to make your way through congested areas undetected, and sneak up to enemies and perform sneak attacks.

This skill can be particularly useful against bosses like the upcoming fight at the summit of the mountain, as this spell deploys a decoy that can occupy enemies and help you avoid their most deadly attacks.
