Star Wars as a property has faced a slew of setbacks in recent years. From the abysmally crafted sequel trilogy, that destroyed everything that the franchise stood for, to various sad attempts at onboarding a new demographic, Star Wars alienated its core audience so badly, that they don’t seem to care about the franchise any more than those who the franchise failed to onboard as new fans.

A lot of the decisions that led to this state of the fandom are a result of actions approved by the current President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy. Having personally served as a protege of Geroge Lucas before the acquisition of the IP from Disney, it is even more tragic that the current state of the franchise’s fandom can’t see any sort of meaningful change from the creator, or even Disney at large.
Fans are surprised Kathleen Kennedy still has as much power as she does
In a trend that started withThe Last Jediand hopefully has come to an end with the cancelation ofThe Acolyte, the Star Wars brand has been in decline when it comes to the core fanbase of the franchise.Kathleen Kennedyhas routinely green-lit projects that have less to do with the core themes of Star Wars and more with ‘updating’ the franchise for the nebulous ‘modern audience’.
How does she still have a job

When she’s gone I promise things will get better 🙏🏻
Disney hasn’t learned the hard lesson yet apparently.
Worst news. Can we please get someone new to breathe some life into a franchise that has had 1 good movie and 1 good tv show in the last 10 years
Kathleen Kennedy needs to be removed from her post and replaced by someone who is an actual fan of the material. She’s done nothing but tarnish the legacy of the original films. Heck, I’d take the prequel trilogy over her offerings any day of the week.

While Kathleen Kennedy is expected to stay on for at least another year at Lucasfilm, the cancelation ofThe Acolytehas filled fans with hope for the future of Star Wars. Given that Disney will be more cautious going forward with the MCU and Star Wars, with the focus being on quality and not quantity, the latter will probably see more carefully crafted stories entering its canon.
Fans are concerned that Dinsey might do toThe Acolytewhat it did withWillow
Willowgot a follow-up in the form of a streaming series almost thirty-six years after the initial film came out, way back in 1988. However, the show was removed from streaming as a part of Disney’s initiative under Bob Iger to make streaming profitable. Fans have expected ever since the purge started that a similar fate might be set to befallThe Acolyte, which was canceled after its freshman season.
The Acolytewas widely panned for its canon-breaking tendencies, which caused a lot of fans to shun the series halfway, causing its finale to have much lesser viewership than its premiere. While there seemed to be a lot of momentum behind the show, as was reported by multiple sources, the show failed to wow fans, which has gotten a lot of them thinking that there is no way in hell the show gets to stay on Disney+.

The Acolytecan be streamed on Dinsey+
