But in a slew of such moments, one, in particular, was so dark that the creative mastermind behind the series, Seth MacFarlane, narrowly avoided what could have been the wrath of an entire nation.
The show centers around the Griffin family, but Peter Griffin often dominates the narrative with his chaotic energy. One such episode featuring Peter dealt with a highly sensitive and controversial topic, combining dark humor into a scenario that many found deeply controversial.

After Quagmire reminisces about his not-so-fun moments with his dad, the entire focus shifts towardsPeteras he realizes that he’s met Quagmire and Cleveland’s fathers but never met Joe’s. Out of curiosity, he asks Joe about his dad, to which he replies that he’s been estranged from his father for years.
This sparks an idea among Cleveland, Peter, and Quagmire to track down Joe’s father and reconnect them. Further, in the same conversation, Quagmire warns Peter to keep it a secret, as he’s terrible at it. Peter replies that he’s great at keeping secrets, and a flashback takes theaudienceback to when Peter was an OB-GYN.
