miHoYo, at the Starfire Sonorant concert for the 5th anniversary ofHonkai Impact 3rd,officially revealed a brand new JRPG,Honkai Star Rail, and an open beta test was even announced, alongside a new trailer forAPHO 2.
Honkai Star Railofficially revealed, Closed Beta Test registration date
The first key visual forHonkai Star Railshows the JRPG is exactly what it says, and will feature a space train. This is a clear and direct inspiration from the works of Leiji Matsumoto andGalaxy Express 999(orNight of the Galactic Railroadbut I still haven’t read that.)
This makes perfect sense seeing miHoYo, just like the legendary sci-fi mangaka, is keen to re-using characters while slightly tweaking their backstories. Creating a multiverse with several versions of the same character.
Unlike Matsumoto Leiji though, where it’s useless thinking about a timeline and whatnot, it seems very likely everything is intricately linked together here. Seeing miHoYo’s past works, it’s all but confirmedStar Railis a parallel universe to the one inHonkai Impact 3rd.
In any case, theHonkai Star RailBeta Test registration will start on October 8. If miHoYo follows the same pattern as for the pre-release Beta Tests forGenshin Impact, players participating will not be under NDA and will be freely able to share content and impressions, so look forward to it.

A few weeks ago, during theHonkai5th-anniversary Chinese stream. miHoYo announcedA Post Honkai Odyssey chapter 2will be released by the end of 2021. Now a new trailer forAPHO 2was published as well.
Note thatHonkai Star Railis a different game fromHonkai Impact 4 Galaxy, as the games have different pages on Chinese social media. Both gameswere first trademarkedseveral months ago in China.
On July 12, 2025, it was also made public thatHonkai: Star Railwasregisteredin Japan on August 23, which greatly hinted an announcement was coming soon. We should hear Star Railvery soon, before the end of 2021.
