Warner Bros Gameshas confirmed that an actor who held a major role in the Harry Potter film franchise will have something to do withHogwarts Legacy, and a clearer picture of just what that connection will be should be available this coming Tuesday. A very brief (10 seconds) TikTok video posted Saturday on WBGames' account features actor Tom Felton, famous for playing Potter rival and Slytherin prefect Draco Malfoy in the films.
“It’s true then. Tom Felton has come to Hogwarts. Check back in on May 9 at 9 a.m. PT to watch,” the text attached to the TikTok reads. In the video, Felton sits in relative darkness, with light cast on just one side of his face. An audio clip from the game plays, with Hogwarts Legacy’s Slytherin companion, Sebastian Sallow, giving his obligatory introduction to the player. As an eerie violin screeches, the light comes up on Felton, who turns to the camera and returns the greeting with a “Hello, Sebastian.” The video then cuts to a text announcement with the title “Into The Shadows With Tom Felton” and the aforementioned May 9 date. Even with Felton’s recently revealed connection to the game, it’s highly unlikely that his most famous character will be coming to Hogwarts Legacy, as it’s set in the 1890s, which is roughly a full century before young Draco Malfoy would first start attending the school for witches and wizards. Still, the Broadway play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child — which still has rumors swirling about a possible movie adaptation — has a plot that centers largely around a couple of Slytherin students shooting all around the timeline with Butterfly Effect-like consequences, and Draco has a relatively major role to play in it as well, so such a connection isn’t completely out of the question.
Felton isn’t the first actor from the cast of the Harry Potter film franchise to make an appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, but he is the most high-profile. Still, the game’s cast list already includes Luke Youngblood, the British actor who portrayed Lee Jordan, who served as Quidditch announcer and best friend to the Weasley twins throughout the series (though there still seems to be no news on whether he’ll be returning as the “Pop-Pop!"-spouting Magnitude for the upcoming Community Movie.) In Hogwarts Legacy, Youngblood filled the role of another of the player’s companions, the Ravenclaw student known as Everett Clopton, who gives our hero an introduction toflying on a broom.
As for just what WB Games and Felton have in store for us, it’s not entirely clear yet, but we only have to wait until this coming Tuesday to find out.
