Hogwarts Legacy

10Beast Master

Best Combination For Collecting Magical Beasts

Coming in tenth place is the Beast Master build. As you explore the massive regions outside Hogwarts, you’ll encounter many Fantastic Beasts that you can “rescue” and add to your Vivarium in the Room of Requirement. To catch these creatures, you’ll need to get close to them and draw them into your bottomless beast bag.

While capturing them, they can escape, and this is very common with the more elusive beasts like Unicorns. To ensure you capture them every time, you’ll want to sneak up using theDisillusionmentspell, cast eitherArresto MomentoorGlaciusto hold them in place, and then finally use your bag to capture them. Apply this method, and you’ll never miss your chance to capture that rare beast.

As you explore the various areas and dungeons in the game, you are going to encounter puzzles and obstacles that require the use of certain spells. Over time, you’ll gain three additional spell combination slots, allowing you to have a total of four different setups that you can quickly switch to on the fly.

Reserving one of these setups for your utility spells can be really handy and help you avoid having to manually change out your setup when you find the next puzzle.Lumoswill help you see better in dark areas, solve moth mirror puzzles and certain Merlin Trials, and help you avoid the tendrils of Devil’s Snare.AccioandLeviosoare both frequently used to get to hard-to-reach places, andDisillusionmentwill help you open locked eye-chests and doors, and avoid unwanted enemy encounters.

8Shadow Mage

Stealth Combat Combination

Now that we’ve covered the more functional builds, it’s time to get into the ones best suited for heavy combat. The Shadow Mage build is a great balance of tactful and powerful. Using yourDisillusionmentspell will allow you to sneak up to enemies undetected, and hit them withPetrificusTotalus, taking them out of the fight before they even know what’s going on.

Hogwarts Legacy: How To Get Expelliarmus

Expelliarmus is a popular spell from the Harry Potter movies. Players in Hogwarts Legacy can learn it early on. Here’s how to get it.

Once you are detected or are just done sneaking around, you can useAccioto pull enemies to you and immediately castIncendioto do AOE (area of effect) fire damage. And for any of the more powerful enemies you face, you can rip their wands or weapons out of their hands by castingExpelliarmus, making sure they can’t unleash their powerful attacks on you while you take out the weaker enemies.

Shadow Mage Spell Combos

Individual Curse Damage Combination

While you do have the option to not learn the three curses available in the game, you will probably enjoy your experience more if you do. The Cursed build is great at inflicting massive damage to individual enemies and helps ensure you aren’t overwhelmed by their numbers.

CastingImperioon an enemy will force them to fight for you, giving you a temporary “ally” to attack and distract other enemies on the battlefield. Combine this with a blast ofCrucioto incapacitate an enemy, and do splash damage to any of the enemies near them. And finally, castingLeviosoto pull them into the air, and then slamming them down withDescendo, will obliterate even the strongest of enemies.

6Dark Wizard

Most Powerful Curse Combination

As you may have guessed, Dark Wizards use the Unforgivable Curses to defeat their enemies. But they aren’t above using some of the regular spells as well. This build is the most balanced, dark build you may have.Cruciowill incapacitate an enemy, causing damage over time, and inflicting splash damage when upgraded. It is also paired exceptionally well with the powerful fire spell,Confringo.

Hogwarts Legacy: How To Unlock The Cruciatus Curse [Crucio]

You get to choose whether or not to learn Crucio. Here’s how to unlock it.

Need to avoid the one-hit-kill attacks of the area boss? CastExpelliarmusto disarm them, and then unleash your basic attacks while they fumble to grab their wand. And if that random troll comes charging in, you may always hit them with your one-hit-kill and a dark wizard’s number one go-to,Avada Kedavra.

5Elemental

An Element For Every Occassion

There are a few enemies in the game that are weaker to the elements. Spiders and Inferi will take massive damage when casting fire spells on them, and you are often facing exclusively these enemies when you encounter them in dungeons and catacombs. HavingIncendioto quickly cast a ring of fire, andConfringoto shoot a bolt of fire at them will ensure you obliterate the lot of them before they have a chance to swarm you.

These fire spells are also useful on Dark Wizards and Goblins, but havingGlaciusequipped will help you hold them in place, ensuring your attacks never miss and will add extra damage as they shatter. Combine any of these elemental spells with the Hogwarts version of a “force push,”Depulso, and you will drop just about any enemy with a one-two combo.

4Executioner

Unstoppable Insta-Kill Combination

If you are looking for a similar build to Dark Wizard that packs a little more punch, look no further than the Executioner. It has the same powerful curses as the Dark Wizard build, but also comes withArresto Momento, which immobilizes the enemy in midair, andBombarda, which casts a powerful blast that knocks back multiple foes.

SinceCruciowill temporarily immobilize an enemy, draining their health over time, and create splash damage, hitting them with Bombarda is a great way to spread that pain out even further, hitting multiple foes at once. And while Crucio is recharging, if you need to stop another powerful enemy, you will have Arresto Momento on backup. And again, if you need to one-hit someone with a massive health bar, you can castAvada Kedavra.

3Dark Lord

Making Use Of All The Curses

The ultimate way to embody evil is by using the Dark Lord build. Using the combination ofCrucioandImperiowill ensure you are inflicting the most pain on your enemies, and force them to do the killing for you.

You’re also going to need a high-powered damage-type spell if you want to be truly feared, andConfringois one of the best to have at your disposal. It recharges more quickly than the curses, and it also works well with them, hitting the target enemy with a powerful fire blast. It can also be upgraded to jump around to enemies, which scales well with the splash damage that comes with Crucio. And finally, you’re able to’t call yourself a Dark Lord if you don’t kill at least one person in each fight with the formidableAvada Kedavra.

2Battle Mage

All-Rounder Battle Combination

Similar to the Dark Wizard build, but even more well-rounded is the Battle Mage. Equipped with a damage, force, and control spell, this setup will ensure you are able to break through the shields of any enemy type.

CastingArresto Momentowill freeze an enemy in the air and leave them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. This is especially effective when combined withDescendoas it will slam them into the ground, and cause blast damage to anyone nearby.Expelliarmuscan disarm even the strongest of enemies and let you get in close for the kill. And finally, the Battle Mage is equipped with the most useful damage spell in the game,Confringo.

1Legendary

Most Powerful/Balanced Battle Combination

What the Battle Mage does well, the Legendary build takes one step further, making it the most powerful and balanced build in the game. This build is also equipped with each spell type which will ensure no enemy shield will stop you.

CastGlaciuson the enemy to freeze them, and then hit them withDiffindoto slice through and shatter them, inflicting heavy damage. Diffindo also can cut through multiple enemies in a row once it is upgraded, making it a valuable tool to control the battlefield, especially when you are facing a dozen or so enemies at once.

The Legendary build also comes equipped withConfringowhich allows you to do insane damage on most enemies and is especially effective against Spiders and Inferi as they are weak to fire. Having it at the ready means you are never going to be caught off guard or have to pause and swap skills out. And finally, if the enemy gets too close, or you just want to send them flying off a cliff, blast them away withDepulso. You can also use this to fling enemies into each other which will damage them both. This build is so strong and balanced that you can go through the entire game using just this and will always come out on top.
