Without even a single delay in launch,Hitman 3officially released by IO Interactive last night. One day prior to launch, most of the outlets rolled out their reviews of the game, withmost of them praisingthe Danish studio’s latest attempt as the best iteration of The World of Assassination trilogy. Now, the developer goes over some of those reviews in a new trailer.
Revealed in Sony’s first PS5 showcase,Hitman 3is the conclusion to The World of Assassination trilogy, the rebooted series that IO Interactive started in 2016 when they were acting as a subsidiary of Square Enix. With the game’s poor commercial performance and unusual episodic release, Square Enix decided to sell IOI to another publisher, but the developers asked for a management buy out and became independent. Since then, IO Interactive developedHitman 2andHitman 3, and both of them were better than the original entry.
With the release ofHitman 3, IO Interactive will be focused onProject 007, a brand new IP from the studio that will follow the origins of James Bond as an MI6 agent. Nothing has been shared about the details and scale of this project yet, but if it’s going to be in the same genre as theHitmanseries, then probably we can trust them.
For those who were worried about getting theirHitman 1and2locations inHitman 3, IO Interactive has recentlypromised to work out a new waythrough which players won’t be forced to re-purchase those games. However, the official website for IO Interactive currently has some problems with transferring the player progression from Steam to Epic Games Store, but it will probably be solved in the new few days.
Hitman 3is out now onPS4,PS5,Xbox One,Xbox Series X|S,Nintendo Switch, Stadia, andPC. A VR version of the game is also available exclusively on PSVR. Make sure to check out DualShockers' review of the gamehere.
