In March,Helldivers 2players were introduced to the Terminid Control Systems, a new mission type focused on exterminating the Terminid. While these missions seemed like the perfect idea to annihilate these bugs, some players believe that it triggered something much worse.
Many theories predict that these Terminid Control Systems missions may have mutated the Terminid and, in fact, some believe that players should brace themselves for the introduction of a Terminid powerhouse: Hive Lords. People who have played the first game are familiar with how tough it is to deal with Bug Hive Lord as these giant terrifying units can create tunnels for the Bug Hives and can swiftly navigate under the ground. Fans have discovered their molts in Helldivers 2 and since then, they have been preparing for its arrival.

Two months ago, players completed the Terminid Control Systems to wipe out Terminid, however, some believe that by completing these missions, players may have triggered a mutation among this faction. As per these theories, Terminid maysend out some new bugsas well as the giant sandworm from the first game, Bug Hive Lord.

Fans found it strange that the Bug Hive Lord didn’t return from the first game but now slowly things are making sense as players have been getting hints about its arrival. The Hive Lord has the ability to perforate the entire crust of a planet with tunnels, making way for Bug Hives. On top of this, taking them down will be tricky as they mostly travel under the ground.

Around the same time players were completing Terminid Control Systems, a Reddit user named Tnel1027 revealed on ther/Helldiverssubreddit that they came across molts of Bug Hive Lord in the game. They also speculated that the tremors that players were experiencing were also hints that this Terminid unit is on its way. Subsequently, many players found skeletons of Hive Lords on Terminid planets.

It’s not a secret that the players have been taking the Terminid threats very lightly recently and by introducing the Bug Hive Lord, Arrowhead Game Studios can spice things up on the battlefield.
