With new Helldivers 2 Warbonds releasing every month, it’s so important to have a quick and reliable method for farming Super Credits.
This new secondary weapon changes the game as far assecondary weaponsare concerned. Previously, your secondary weapon was your back-up. When things get dicey, and you’re backed up against a wall, your secondary weapon can come in clutch to save you. The Grenade Pistol shifts away from that, delivering an option that not only will offer some explosive firepower at range, but it can evenhelp with certain map objectives, freeing up your Grenade and potentially your Support Weapons of choice.

Like almostevery other weapon in the game, the Grenade Pistol must be unlocked via a Warbond. In this case, it’s the new Democratic DetonationPremium Warbond, released on April 11 and available for 1000 Super Credits.
You can unlock this secondary weapon on the third page of the Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond for60 Medals— though you’ll have to unlock thethird pagefirst, which costs a whopping230 Medals to unlock the third page, meaning you’ll need to spend a total of 290 Medals to unlock the Grenade Pistol at the earliest.
The Grenade Pistol holds atotal of 9 shots(one in the chamber, 8 reloads). This severely limits how frequently you’ll be using it, though for its ideal use case, 9 shots is more than enough (more on that in the next section).
Reloading is pretty quick, and it’s got a few nice perks:
Destroy Bug Holes & Bot Fabricators
The true highlight of this new secondary weapon isn’t simply having a single-shot grenade launcher at your fingertips. No, it’sthe ability to close Bug Holes and Bot Fabricatorswith your pistol that makes this weapon stand out against other great secondary weapons like theP-19 Redeemer.
You can also open Cargo Crates with it, making for quick smash-and-grabs of Warbond Medals, Requisition Slips, andSuper Credits.
Functioning just like any other explosive grenade or specific Stratagems — or some Support Weapons like theAutocannon, Grenade Launcher, orQuasar Cannon— the Grenade Pistol can close these enemy spawn points. This might not sound too incredible at first blush — we already have great tools for closing Bug Holes and Fabricators, right? But thisgreatly expands your loadout opportunities. It’s important to always have a tool capable of closing these enemy spawn points. Sure, youcouldrely just on your Stratagems, and you might continue to do so, but you havemuchbetter uses for yourstrongest Stratagems. So instead, most players need to rely either on their Grenade slot or a specific Support Weapon.
Now, with a secondary weapon capable of filling this role — along with theEruptor primarydoing the same — it makes it much easier to justify bringing along the Stun Grenade, or trying out a different Support Weapon,without hurting your overall effectiveness. Now, you could come equipped with Stun Grenades and a Flamethrower, and you’ll still be able to close Bug Holes and Bot Fabricators as well as anyone.

Best Grenade Pistol Loadout Options
The Grenade Pistol is going to be a littleriskier against bugs, since they tend to push up into melee range a lot more aggressively than their bot brethren. For this reason, you’ll only want to swap to this secondary when you have the space you won’t blow yourself up.
Consider starting engagements with the Grenade Pistol before switching to your primary or Support Weapon of choice.

The Scorcher is also great against Automatons (especiallyScout Striders), but its explosive damage pairs poorly with the Grenade Pistol, as it would leave you incredibly vulnerable when enemies get up close.

With the Grenade Pistol able to close Bug Holes and Bot Fabricators, you won’tneedto dedicate your Support Weapon to that job; but that doesn’t mean you can’t, either.
