After being asked by a fellow Helldiver if players can expect buffs to underperforming stratagems and weapons, a developer in the game’s Discord shared some promising news on the studio’s future plans.
Following its release earlier this month,Helldivers 2has had a severe case of “struggling from success,” somethingPalworld knows about all too well. The sequel to 2015’s Helldivers quickly became PlayStation’s biggest hit of the year, especially on PC. Not only was in the first PlayStation game to surpass 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, but itcontinued to climb to well over 400,000 playersearlier this month, dethroning Valve’s titan, Counter-Strike 2.

You’d think that these amazing figures would be great news for developer Arrowhead Game Studios, but the team has been struggling to keep the game’s servers online due to the massive influx of players. Thankfully, after weeks of patches and capacity increases, Helldivers 2 seems to be in a much better state, meaning the team can now (hopefully) focus on future content and balance adjustments.
Helldivers 2 Dev Promises Stratagem And Weapon Buffs
Server stability aside, one thing the Helldivers 2 community has beenpleading for is weapon and stratagem buffsto help fight the war on bugs (and automatons). Thankfully, Arrowhead Game Studios says buffs are officially on the way!
When asked by Reddit userDean_38in the Helldivers Discord if players can expect any weapon and stratagem buffs, a developer responded by saying:
“We are working on that for an update, yes.”
While it’s great news for democracy, there’s not much to go off, such as when Helldivers can expect this update to arrive. But given that the game’s server issues are now in the rearview mirror, we’re hoping that these changes come sooner rather than later, because boy are they needed.
In response, Helldivers 2 players quickly began discussing which weapons and stratagems they believe are in serious need of a rework. “Flamethrower buff is needed! We need to make bug barbecue,” Reddit userGoatzillaBluesaid, whiletikipunch4pitched for heavy armor to receive a buff so they can “stand toe-to-toe” with enemies and make the movement penalty worthwhile.
Various weapons and stratagems could do with some major buffs, but what Arrowhead has in mind remains a mystery. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait long to find out.
