Mark Addy’s portrayal of Robert Baratheon was something that fans immensely enjoyed. Given the part that the character had in the show, Addy was able to deliver a fun and versatile take on the character, one that fans still remember fondly more than a decade after the actor exited the show.

However, despite how great the performance of the actor was, there was still something missing from how the books depicted the character. Fans are convinced that this would not have been the case if the role had been accepted by Brian Cox, who was originally approached to play Robert Baratheon.
Fans think Mark Addy was miscast in Game of Thrones
Reddit has been filled with fans talking about how Brian Cox could have been a perfect fit for Robert Baratheon as the actor was more suited to play the seasoned warrior, one who was washed out thanks to his years of indulging himself.
While Mark Addy was able to charm the audiences with his brilliant performance, there is a section of the fandom that does believe that he was miscast. Brian Cox working his way into the cast ofGame of Throneswould be a dream come true for a lot of fans of the fantasy series and the actor. Many believe that the actor would have betrayed Robert’s warrior past, much better than Mark Addy did.

Brian Cox is very concerned about the state of films in Hollywood
Brian Coxbelieves that the state of cinema in Hollywood is not something that its leaders ought to be proud of.
“It is bollocks, that film”: Brian Cox Slams Mel Gibson’s Oscar Winning Movie as ‘Load of Lies’ But Praises Controversial Actor’s Performance
Speaking during theEdinburgh International Film Festival, the actor said:
What’s happened is that television is doing what cinema used to do. I think cinema is in a very bad way. I think it’s lost its place because of, partly, the grandiose element between Marvel, DC and all of that. And I think it’s beginning to implode, actually. You’re kind of losing the plot.
Cox’s ideas about how Marvel and DC are eating up the box office space are ironic. Given that the actor was part of the films that ended up setting the stage for superhero films, Brian Cox’s comments might seem odd but seem to be echoing a popular sentiment among many elder filmmakers.

Game of Thronescan be streamed on Max.
