It has been a running joke in theStar Warsfandom that nobody hates the franchise more than Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford. The actor has jokingly (hopefully) disregarded any question about the lore and seemed to be genuinely happy that Solo was killed inStar Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

While it was speculated that he hates it because it was a multi-billion dollar franchise, Ford’s recent comments about joining the MCU have led fans to believe that he just hatesStar Warsand not big franchises in general. However, Ford’s hate forStar Warsmay just be an exaggerated gag that has been running for ages.

Harrison Ford Said He Enjoyed Being A Part Of The MCU Experience

Since becoming one of the most successful franchises in the world, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been called many things. Revolutionary, blockbuster, and theme park rides are just some of the terms that are used to describe the franchise that, for better or for worse, changed Hollywood forever.

“I cut this part of my finger off”: Harrison Ford Was So Terrible At His 1st Job Before Acting That He Both Injured Himself and Got Fired on the First Day

While yesteryear filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola have criticized the advent of the superhero film, particularly pointing fingers at the MCU, the franchise’s mightiest defender seemed to be an unexpected actor.Harrison Ford, who will be seen inCaptain America: Brave New World, recently spoke about joining the franchise.

Ford’s MCU debut is due in 2025 and the actor seems to be enjoying the experience. His impression of a Red Hulk transformation at this year’s Comic-Con went viral and he seems to share a great chemistry with the rest of his cast. Recently in an interview withGQ, he spoke about joining the MCU,

“I cut this part of my finger off”: Harrison Ford Was So Terrible At His 1st Job Before Acting That He Both Injured Himself and Got Fired on the First Day

I understand the appeal of other kinds of films besides the kind we made in the ’80s and ’90s. I don’t have anything general to say about it. It’s the condition our condition is in, and things change and morph and go on. We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change and don’t participate. I’m participating in a new part of the business that, for me at least, I think is really producing some good experiences for an audience. I enjoy that.

He also mentioned that he does not look at the genre while choosing a film and just focuses on good writing.

Does Harrison Ford Only HateStar Wars?

Harrison Ford has been in many big franchises and has never shied away from returning to them for a sequel done decades later. He reprised his role as Rick Deckard inBlade Runner 2049and he returned as Indiana Jones in last year’sDial of Destiny. However, the one franchise that he seems to really hate isStar Wars.

“I fulfilled my job”: Blue Bloods Star Tom Selleck Leaving Indiana Jones Created a Huge Mess Before Harrison Ford Took Over

It has been a running joke for years that Ford hates the franchise that was his breakthrough. In an appearance onJimmy Kimmel Live!, he mentioned that he tried very hard for Han Solo to be killed inThe Empire Strikes Backbut it went in vain. He seemed to be delighted at the fact that he would be killed off inThe Force Awakens.

While fans speculated that he just generally hated big franchises like any other old-timer, Ford’s recent comments on the MCU led fans to believe he only hatesStar Wars. However, that might not be true and Ford may just be annoyed at being defined by one particular character. He is a talented actor who has given some incredible performances.

This from the man who couldn’t wait to be done with Star Wars, I think this movie’s gonna be fantastic.

He just jokes about that hate, he loves the fans, he’s just also an old guy and a dad that wants to chill and have a little life sometimes

This is coming from the same guy who hates every role he’s in except for Indiana Jones.

So it’s just Star Wars that he has beef with. 😂

Whether it is because of toxic fans, not wanting to be boxed, or because it is just hilarious to seeStar Wars’ biggest star disregard the films, Harrison Ford’s hate for the space opera will forever be in the hearts of fans.
