Ahead of thelaunch ofHalo Infinitein 2020, one of the development team’s key members has now departed 343 Industries.

In a new report from Kotaku, it was stated that Tim Longo, who was serving as the creative director forHalo Infinite, has left 343 as of this week. Longo was also the creative director onHalo 5: Guardians, which launched back in 2015. Kotaku additionally reports that Longo had moved to a different role on the development team a few weeks back before opting to just depart from 343 as a whole this week.

Microsoft released the following comment on these changes at 343 Industries and wished Longo well moving forward. The statement also says that the game’s core vision is remaining led by studio head, Chris Lee.

Roles and responsibilities of various team members regularly evolve to meet the needs of a game, throughout development. We have recently had two changes to the Halo Infinite development team. Our Executive Producer, Mary Olson will now take charge of the Campaign team on Halo Infinite as the Lead Producer, utilizing her many years of experience at 343 to help craft a great campaign for fans.

Additionally, Tim Longo has recently departed our team and we are truly thankful for his many contributions to our games, our studio and the Halo universe. We wish Tim nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

The overall creative vision and production of the game remains led by Chris Lee, Studio Head of Halo Infinite.

We have a word-class team building Halo Infinite and the overwhelming positive response by fans has us energized, more than ever, to create the best Halo game to date, alongside Project Scarlett in holiday 2020. These changes have no impact to the release date for Halo Infinite.

A shakeup like this in the final stretch of development naturally brings about many concerns regardingHalo Infinite. Even though Microsoft says Longo’s absence won’t be affecting the vision or development of the game, let’s just hope that they’re right. While gameplay footage forInfinitehasn’t been shown yet, everything we’ve seen and heard so far looks promising.

Halo Infiniteis scheduled to arrive later next year. It’s planned to come to Xbox One and PC, along with Microsoft’s next-gen platform, currently calledProject Scarlett.
