L.A. Noire Developer Confirms Work On Rockstar “Projects”
Confusion was generated around developer Video Games Deluxe’s supposed new game “Sowden House” under Rockstar by Australian composer and performer, Freyja Garbett. Said to be a “psychological thriller set in 1940s L.A.”, Garbett’s Instagram post (ThanksVGC) said, “I never thought I’d be writing for video game but I’m grateful for the opportunity!” The post was deleted since the information was found to be inaccurate and the developer soon cleared the air.
In astatement, Video Games Deluxe confirmed the team was “working exclusively on projects for Rockstar” and explained Garbett’s musical contribution was for a “VR project that we were working on a number of years ago”. The statement concluded with “we have no idea whether this will ever see the light of day” but the developer decided to finish Garbett’s score commission to “support a local composer”.

This unreleased title was confirmed to be “based on a case from L.A. Noire that didn’t make the cut but was more of a tech demo”, and Sowden House refers to the home of Dr. George Hodel, known to be one of the main suspects in the Black Dahlia murder.
GTA Fans Bring Rumored Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR Port Back Into The Spotlight
Discussing what “projects” Video Games Deluxe could be working on with Rockstar, GTA fans were quick to resurface the rumored San Andreas port.
Back in 2021, the developer posted on LinkedIn confirming the team was “beavering away on one of the world’s best-loved games for VR” after an announcement from the Facebook Connect event. However, there’s been no word on the project since, and Meta is thought to be funding the port.

Several members of the fandom “assumed” one of these projects was the San Andreas VR port and figured Video Games Deluxe was hired to “lend a hand” in the development. Others said they were “90%” sure it was the port and many were glad about this because they felt there was a lack of “proper open-world chaos” in VR.
Of course, other Rockstar players thought one of the projects could also be a VR port ofGTA 5orRed Dead Redemption 2, which was quickly shut down calling it an “extreme stretch” - even though exploring the American West in VR would be peak escapism.
