Grand Theft Auto 6is set for aFall 2025 launch, which means we’re a little over one year away from the highly anticipated release. And with a newGTA Onlineupdate on the horizon, fans had been speculatingthat this summer’s update would be the game’s last. But thanks to a new blog post from Rockstar, we now know that that’s not the case.

Toward the end ofRockstar Games' Newswire poston the Bottom Dollar Bounties update, the studio urged fans to “look out for new Drift and Drag Races in the Rockstar Creator” as well as a “host of new vehicles, experiences updates, and tons more.” Rockstar then confirmed that all of this would be arriving in GTA Online “throughout summer and beyond,” all but confirming that new content updates are still in development.

Multiple adjustments have been made to GTA Online’s PC version as Rockstar Games experiences a “critical exploit.”

Despite being a powerhouse in the live-service genre, nobody really knows what’s going to happen with GTA Online when Grand Theft Auto 6 is released next year. The most common theory is that Rockstar Games will sunset GTA Online and release a sequel that is tied directly to Grand Theft Auto 6.

Another possibility is that GTA Online continues to evolve and, through the power of new content updates, ties into the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 next year. While neither possibility has been acknowledged by Rockstar, the former of the two options is the more expected outcome.

When Rockstar Games first referenced Grand Theft Auto 6, it came in the form of a blog post discussing the future of Red Dead Online. While it never became quite the phenomenon that Grand Theft Auto Online did, fans were disappointedto see development on the live service title wind down as Rockstar opted to move the development team over to Grand Theft Auto 6.

Despite GTA Online being five years older than Red Dead Online, it remains one of the most popular live service titles around and, if Rockstar’s latest blog post is anything to go by, will continue to be supported for much longer.

The next update that fans can look forward to is titled Bottom Dollar Bounties and will not only see thereturn of another Grand Theft Auto 5 characterbut also allow players to start up their very own bounty-hunting business. The update will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 25th.
