Right now, we’re going to talk about The Crimson Dread, a dragon in Vanaheim. Dragons are few and far between, and they’re large, fearsome creatures to fight. So, settle in and get ready for a wild ride. If you’re looking for tips and tricks to take down The Crimson Dread, you’ve come to the right place.
Dragging The Dragon
The Crimson Dread has some vicious attacks, including a grab attack that you’ll have to dodge away from, or it will hit you for some punishing damage. This section is about fighting The Crimson Dread while he’s grounded, while the next section is about when he’s in flight. This fight doesn’t have multiple phases, but it does shift between ground and air. So, consult this section for ground and section two for air until the fight is nearly finished.
Breathing Fire
The Crimson Dread will use asweeping fire attackthat will instantly set you ablaze if it touches you. Fire deals damage over time, so you definitely want to avoid that. There’s really no blocking this attack, and the fire stays on the ground for a little while. This effectively creates a barrier between you and the dragon, forcing you to brave the fire or back off. The choice is yours, but it might be safest to just get in a few ranged attacks for the moment.
Yellow Ringed Attacks
The dragon will lunge and you with bite attacks, and you’ll want to either dodge or parry these. Like other yellow-ringed attacks, it will break your block if you don’t try to parry.
Red Ringed Attacks
The Crimson Dread doesn’t have too many red-ringed attacks, but when it comes up, you’ll need to dodge out of the way. Youcan’t block theseattacks.
Spartan Rage
If you’ve taken some damage during the fight and have your Spartan Rage available, use it to deal significant stun damage to the beast. Once you’ve filled the stun bar, a large chunk of The Crimson Dread’s health will fall away.

Taking Flight
Once you’ve dealt some damage to The Crimson Dread, it will take flight and strike from above with large swaths of fire. You need to dodge out of the way of this attack or you’ll take significant damage and be lit aflame.
Grounding The Beast
The key to taking down the creature is to hit it with a ranged attack in one of its weak points. It may be best to use the spear here, as you can throw it in quick succession, where the axe has to return to your hand after you throw it. Once you’ve hit some weak points, the dragon will be forced to crash-land.
Take Advantage Of The Stun
The Crimson Dread, damaged by your attacks, will crash to the ground and be stunned for a couple of seconds. This gives you a good opportunity to move in fast and get in some strikes while it’s stunned.Take this opportunity to deal as much damage as you’re able to.
