After rejuvenating theGod of Warfranchise with 2018’sGod of War, Sony released the sequel of the game,God of War Ragnarök, in November 2022. Just like its predecessor, the game was praised for its engaging story, world design, art direction, music, graphics, combat system, and characters.

Roughly one year after the release of the game, a free downloadable content pack titledValhallawas released, which served as an epilogue to the game. In it, gamers complete a series of trials within Valhalla and learn more about Kratos’ past.
Many fans believe that this game officially ended the Norse era ofGod of War, with creators shifting towards Egyptian or Maya mythology. However,God of War Ragnarök‘s writer Orion Walker confirmed last month that there’s more to come.

This has once again created buzz on social media, especially for those who wish to see the next game focused on Atreus searching Midgard for the Lost Giants. This theory has been around for quite some time but it’s only speculation as nothing is confirmed as of now.

Will Atreus become the lead character in futureGod of Wargames?
Kratos has been the lead character of Santa Monica Studio’sGod of Warseries since 2005 and now some fans speculate that his journey will soon come to an end. Last month,God of War Ragnarök‘s writer Orion Walker confirmed in anX postthat the game’s credits are not the end of the game, seemingly confirming that there’s more to come.
You really think the credits are the end of the story? C’mon. C’mon now.#GodOfWarRagnarokValhalla

This confirmation has created many theories among fans but the most interesting one is certainly Atreus taking over as the lead character of theGod of Warfranchise. Fans believe a game focused on Arteus, particularly searching Midgard for the Lost Giants, would make an exciting subplot.
